PROBLEM
STARTER WILL NOT CRANK
STARTER CRANKS SLOWLY
NOISY ALTERNATOR
CAUSE
Starter safety switch
is
not
correctly adjusted or failed.
Banery
capaciw is low.
Battery cable connectors
are loosen.
Defective starter.
Defective main switch
Low battery output
Engine oil too heavy.
Loose or corroded connec-
tions.
Defective or worn belt.
Alternator brushes not
seated.
Alternator commutator
worn too much.
Worn or defective bearings.
REMEDY
See your YANMAR dealer.
Charge battery and check fan
belt tension.
Tighten connecton.
See your YANMAR dealer.
Replace switch.
Check electrolyte level and
specific gravity.
Use proper viscosity oil.
Clean and tighten loose connec-
tions.
Replace belt.
Seat brushes.
Have service shop or YANMAR
dealer recondition.
Have service shop replace
bearings.
