Overview

The Yard Force YF12BLV is a versatile 12 AMP electric blower, vacuum, and mulcher designed for outdoor power equipment use. It is intended for blowing, vacuuming, and mulching dry leaves, grass, and yard debris in private households and as a hobby tool in the garden. This device is not suitable for wet suction or for picking up health-endangering debris.

Function Description:

The YF12BLV operates in two primary modes: blower and vacuum/mulcher. In Blower Mode, the device uses a powerful airflow to clear leaves and debris from surfaces. Users can adjust the speed to either a lower (level 1) or higher (level 2) setting using the variable speed switch located on the motor housing. The blower tube is attached to the motor housing, and the vacuum cover must be firmly closed for this mode to operate. In Vacuum/Mulcher Mode, the device sucks up dry leaves and yard debris through a vacuum tube. The collected material is then mulched by an internal impeller before being deposited into a collection bag. This mode requires the vacuum tube assembly and collection bag to be attached, and the vacuum cover to be open. The mulching function helps to reduce the volume of debris, making it easier to dispose of.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model #: BV-14EG-12A
  • Input Voltage Rating: 120 V~60Hz
  • Amperage: 12 AMP
  • No Load Speed: 11000/15000 RPM (likely corresponding to the two speed levels)
  • Max Blower Air Speed: 155/245 MPH (likely corresponding to the two speed levels)
  • Max Vacuum Air Volume: 365 CFM
  • Collection Bag Capacity: 2 Bushels

Usage Features:

  • Dual Functionality: Easily switches between blower and vacuum/mulcher modes by changing attachments.
  • Variable Speed Switch: Allows for selection between two speed levels (1 and 2) for optimized performance based on the task.
  • Ergonomic Design: Features a handle on the motor housing for comfortable operation.
  • Extension Cord Compatibility: Requires a heavy-duty extension cord suitable for outdoor use (SW-A, SOW-A, STW-A, STOW-A, SJW-A, SJOW-A, SJTW-A, or SJTOW-A type). A polarized plug and extension cord are required to reduce the risk of electric shock.
  • Cord Retention: Includes a method to secure the blower vac cord to the extension cord, preventing accidental disconnection during operation.
  • Safety Interlocks: The tool will not operate in blower mode without the vacuum cover in place, and the blower tube must be assembled to the motor housing before use.
  • Easy Assembly/Disassembly: Tubes and collection bag attach with "clicks" into position, indicating secure engagement. The vacuum tube can be removed by depressing a lock button and pivoting the tube.
  • Operating Tips:
    • Always try to vacuum dry leaves, cuttings, or general garden debris. Wet materials are difficult to mulch and can clog the blower vac.
    • Use blower mode to pile damp leaves, then vacuum them when dry.
    • Avoid vacuuming stones or other hard objects, as these can damage the impeller.
    • Do not pick up soil, as it can clog the blower vac when combined with other debris.
    • Empty the collection bag when it is approximately half full to maintain optimal suction power and reduce weight.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • Keep the tool's air vents unclogged and clean at all times.
    • Remove dust and dirt regularly with a rag or brush.
    • Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts; a mild detergent on a damp cloth is recommended. Water must never come into contact with the tool.
    • Clean the blower or vacuum tubes thoroughly before storing.
  • Collection Bag Care:
    • Empty the collection bag after each use to prevent deterioration and obstruction of airflow.
    • Wash the bag regularly (once a year is recommended) in soapy water and allow it to air dry completely before zipping it closed.
    • Check the bag frequently for wear or deterioration, as a damaged bag can allow small objects to be thrown through, posing a risk of injury. Replace worn or deteriorated bags with new vacuum bags.
  • Storage:
    • Store the tool, user manual, and accessories in a secure, dry, well-ventilated place, inaccessible to children.
    • Store the tool locked up to prevent unauthorized use or damage.
  • Replacement Parts: Use only manufacturer-approved replacement parts, accessories, and attachments to ensure safety and optimal performance.
  • Pre-use Inspection: Before using the tool and after any impact, check for signs of wear or damage and repair as necessary.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the tool not starting, not vacuuming, or not blowing, with possible causes and fault corrections. For persistent issues or vibrations, it recommends having the tool inspected by an authorized service center.
