What to do if the Yard Machines Trimmer cutting head will not advance line?
    • B
      Bethany WatsonJul 31, 2025
If the cutting head of your Yard Machines Trimmer will not advance the line, several issues could be the cause. The cutting head might be bound with grass, so stop the engine and clean the cutting head. Alternatively, the cutting head might be out of line, requiring you to refill it with a new line. An inner reel bound up could also be the problem, so rewind the inner reel. Also, the cutting head may be dirty, so clean the inner reel and outer spool. If the line is welded, disassemble, remove the welded section, and rewind. If the line is twisted when refilled, disassemble and rewind the line. Finally, not enough line may be exposed, so push the bump knob and pull out the line until 4 inches (102 mm) of line is outside of the cutting head.
