What to do if the York SUNLINE DCG Air Conditioner compressor won't turn on?
    • A
      Alexander LevyNov 2, 2025
If the compressor on your York Air Conditioner isn't starting when the blower motor is running and cooling is requested, several issues could be the cause. First, if installed, check the position of the economizer blades, as the economizer might be providing free cooling. Also, examine the compressor contactor (M1) for line voltage and ensure it's engaged. Check for any loose wiring between the contactor and the compressor. If the compressor housing is hot, it may be off due to inherent protection; allow it to cool down before testing again. Check for 24 volts at the M1 coil; if present but M1 isn't engaged, the contactor may need replacement. Also verify that 24 volts are present at the UCB terminal C1 and check for loose wiring between C1 and the compressor contactor. Check the UCB Y1 te...

      Dawn LewisNov 17, 2025
If the supply air blower motor in your York Air Conditioner isn't starting after a short delay when cooling is activated and the compressors are running, here's what you can check: First, make sure the thermostat fan switch is set to the 'ON' position. If the blower motor works in the 'ON' position but not in 'AUTO' after the compressor starts, check the room thermostat for contact between R and G in the 'AUTO' position during cooling calls. Verify that line voltage is reaching the contacts of the M2 contactor and that the contactor is engaged; also, inspect for loose wiring between the contactor and the blower motor. If the motor housing is hot, it might be off due to internal protection; allow it to cool down before retesting. Check for 24 volts at the M2 coil; if present but M2 isn't en...
