4. OPERATION
4.1 Road mode operation
The control unit recognizes that the unit is in road mode when the ignition key of the vehicle is turned on.
Battery unit
The unit is powered directly from the battery and
the alternator of the vehicle on which it is
installed with a DC voltage, therefore it is
absolutely necessary that the vehicle is in motion
during operation of the unit, in order to avoid the
rapid battery discharge.
Direct drive unit
An open-type compressor is driven by the engine
of the vehicle, while the vehicle battery directly
feeds only the evaporator and condenser fans. Also
in this case it is necessary that the vehicle is in
motion during operation of the unit.
4.2 Stand-by mode operation (OPTIONAL)
The control unit recognizes that the unit is in stand-by mode, when the power plug is connected to a compatible
source of electricity.
During stand-by mode operation, the components are fed in DC voltage through the use of a transformer; other
dedicated AC devices are activated.
Stand-by mode usually provides cooling power equivalent to 60/70% of the maximum capacity available in road
mode.
It should be used primarily for storage of product at a positive temperature >0°C.
For the reason mentioned above in a vehicle used to transport at -20°C, hardly stand-by mode will be able to
maintain the same temperature, unless you choose to install an oversized unit.
If continuous use alternating between stand-by and road mode is good to check periodically if there is an
accumulation of ice in the evaporator.
CAUTION!!!
Stand-by mode is designed for intermittent use and non-intensive, so it can not be considered a substitute of
stationary refrigeration system with own cell not having the same technical characteristics.
4.3 Temperature regulation
When the unit reach the set-point, temperature control is achieved by starts and stops cyclic compressor,
evaporator and condenser fans.
When transporting delicate loads, such as fresh meat, vegetables and cheese, you can program the microprocessor
(contact your dealer) to obtain a continuous ventilation of the evaporator.
