Rope Grab

Inspect the entire Rope Grab for deformation, cracks, and other signs of damage.
Inspect the Attachment Eye (A) and Locking Cam (B) to ensure that the Locking Cam moves
freely without hesitation, binding, or sticking.
Inspect the entire unit for signs of corrosion.
Verify that the Rope Grab opens when the Release Button (I) is pressed with the Opening
Lever (H). The Release Button must be fully extended after the Rope Grab is closed.
Verify that the Webbing (J) of the integral Energy-Absorbing Lanyard is free of cuts, frays,
and broken bers. Check for tears, abrasions, heavy soiling, mold, burns, and discoloration.
Inspect the stitching for pulled or cut stitches. Broken stitches may be an indication that the
lanyard has been impact-loaded and must be removed from service.
Energy Absorber
(Figure 11)
Verify that the integral Energy Absorber has not been activated. An open cover (A) or torn
cover (B), webbing pulled out of the cover (C), torn or frayed webbing (D), and ripped or
missing stitching (E). are indicators of an activated Energy Absorber.
Labels and Markings
(Figure 12)
Verify that all labels and markings are present and fully legible.

Equipment
Additional Fall Protection equipment that is used with the system should be inspected per the
manufacturer instructions.
