Check the oil level and fill the crankcase to the proper level if it's low, or place the generator on a level surface. Clean or replace the air filter if it's dirty. Make sure there's fuel in the tank; if the fuel is stale or contains water, drain the tank and carburetor and refill with fresh fuel. Ensure the spark plug wire is connected, and if the spark plug is bad, replace it. If the engine is flooded, wait 5 minutes and try re-cranking.
