ABB EK6 - Information for OEM Customer

EK6 was design and type tested primary
for/and together with ABB UniGear medium
voltage switchgear.
General prerequisites for OEM customer
The EK6 earthing switch can not be used
as a standalone device. Operation accessories
and especially frame inside the switchgear are
necessary for the proper support and function.
Switchgear has to be adjusted in case of use
of earthing switch EK6 by OEM customers.
The OEM customers are responsible for adjust-
ment of switchgear equipped with earthing
switch EK6.
Caution
Type test of earthing switch EK6 as standalone
equipment has not been done. Therefore the
OEM customers must retest switchgear which
was equipped with earthing switch EK6 by their
own type tests .

Information for OEM customer
Be aware that EK6 technical performance
showed in the manual refers to type test
results in UniGear panel, therefore OEM
customer must repeat type test to verify
EK6 ratings in particular panels.
Installation of opposite vertical position of
contacts against earth switch blades will cause
reduction of rated short circuit making current.
Position of contacts against blades as was origi-
nally design is visible in chapter dimensional
drawing and on also on picture 1.
All OEM accessories for operation of earth switch
are dispatch completely disassembled. Operation
accessories is marked by blue colour on picture 1.
Operation accessories has been design for
UniGear switchgear panels only, from these
reasons further support with assemble or
installation of operation accessories into another
type of switchgear can not be guaranteed.
