Use the
Master clock
setup when the SAM600 system need to be in-sync with
another sample value source but no absolute time synchronization is required.
In this configuration, different sample value sources which are synchronized to
different time masters and different time domains can cause error condition
for the system setup. If sampled value streams from different sources must be
in synch then it is recommended to use
GrandMaster clock with GPS
method,
whenever possible.
A SAM600 system has configurable PTP Domain Number with range 0-255 and
default value 0. When
IEC/IEEE 61850-9-3 (PTP)
time synchronization method is
selected, it is recommended that only one domain number is active.

via IEC/IEEE 61850-9-3 (PTP) -Master clock
If
IEC/IEEE 61850-9-3 (PTP)
option is selected, all the devices that interconnect
the time master with the PTP slaves must support the PTP standard (i.e
transparent or boundary clocks). Therefore, in
IEC/IEEE 61850-9-3 (PTP)
mode,
switches that are used for interconnections must support the corresponding
IEEE 1588 v2 features according to IEC/IEEE 61850-9-3.
All SAM600 System bus connections have transparent clock functionality
enabled (regardless which of the physical ports X101 .. X104 of a module are
assigned as system bus ports). Thus, SAM600-TS, SAM600-CT and SAM600-VT
modules synchronize to other modules on the SAM600 system bus by IEEE
1588.
