master of the SAM600 system. A free running SAM600 system in which a SAM600-TS module
takes the role of the time master is shown in Figure 12. The SAM600 system is free running and
not externally synchronized.
Prefer this time synchronization option if there is no absolute time
synchronization necessary or the SAM600 system does not need to be in-sync
with another sample value sources.
If a sampled value stream is not synchronized then this will be indicated in the
SmpSync field of the stream.

Pulse per second (1PPS) synchronization
A SAM600 system can be configured to require a 1PPS input as synchronization source.
SmpSync field of sampled value streams indicate the unavailability of a 1PPS signal on
SAM600-TS PPS input. An example of this configuration is shown in
Figure 13.

The 1PPS input of SAM600-TS modules is activated only in this configuration.
A loss of 1PPS synchronization source will block the 1PPS outputs of the
SAM600-TS modules.
