This document is a user guide for an Acer LCD Monitor, providing information on safety, setup, usage, and troubleshooting.
Function Description
The Acer LCD Monitor is designed for video and visual display of information from electronic devices. It supports various display modes and resolutions, including overclocking capabilities for higher refresh rates, though this may lead to system instability. The monitor features a universal power supply, allowing operation in different AC voltage areas without user adjustment. It also supports the Display Data Channel (DDC) protocol, enabling plug-and-play functionality by automatically communicating its capabilities to the host system. The monitor is equipped with HDMI and DisplayPort (DP) input sockets for connecting to graphics cards.
Usage Features
Physical Adjustments:
The monitor offers several ergonomic adjustments to optimize the viewing position:
- Height Adjustment: The monitor's height can be adjusted by pressing down on the top of the monitor.
- Tilt: The screen can be tilted from -5° to 25° (recline) for comfortable viewing.
- Swivel: The built-in pedestal allows the monitor to swivel 360° for flexible positioning.
- Monitor Pivot: The display can be rotated 90° clockwise or counter-clockwise after lifting it to the top position and pushing it back to the utmost degree.
Power Management:
The monitor includes power-saving features. It enters "Power Saving" mode, indicated by an amber power LED, when a control signal from the display controller is detected. The monitor recovers from this state within approximately 3 seconds upon detecting a control signal or user input (keyboard/mouse activation).
On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu:
The OSD menu provides extensive controls for adjusting monitor settings. It is accessed via a joystick-like toggle button on the backside of the display bezel. The main page of the OSD offers quick access to:
- Menu OSD: Full access to all settings.
- Hot Key1 (Modes, Volume, Brightness, Gamma, Contrast, Blue Light, Over Drive): Customizable shortcut for frequently used settings.
- Hot Key2 (Modes, Volume, Brightness, Gamma, Contrast, Blue Light, Over Drive): Another customizable shortcut.
- Input Selection: Allows users to choose between HDMI 1, HDMI 2, DP, or Auto Source.
Picture Settings:
The Picture menu allows fine-tuning of the display's visual output:
- Brightness: Adjusts the balance between light and dark shades (0-100).
- Contrast: Sets the degree of difference between light and dark areas (0-100).
- Black Boost: Enhances shadows by increasing brightness without affecting lighter shades (0-10).
- Blue Light: Filters out blue light to protect eyes, with adjustable levels (80%, 70%, 60%, 50%). Higher values allow more blue light through; lower values offer better protection.
- ACM (Adaptive Contrast Management): Can be turned on or off (default is off).
- Super Sharpness: Enhances image clarity by boosting pixel density (on/off).
- HDR (High Dynamic Range): Supports HDR functionality, with an "Auto" mode that checks input source status. When HDR is active, certain features like ACM, Gamma, Contrast, Blue Light, Color Temp, Black Boost, and 6-axis Hue & Saturate may be grayed out or unavailable, with default parameters applied. If the source signal is SDR, brightness can be adjusted; if HDR, brightness is fixed at 100 and grayed out.
Color Settings:
The Color menu provides detailed color adjustments:
- Gamma: Adjusts the luminance tone (default 2.2 for Windows).
- Color Temperature: Options include Cool, Normal, Warm, Bluelight, or User.
- Modes: Allows selection of scenario modes.
- sRGB Mode: Can be turned on or off for better color matching with peripheral devices.
- Grayscale Mode: Enables grayscale display.
- 6-axis Hue: Adjusts the hue for red, green, blue, yellow, magenta, and cyan.
- 6-axis Saturate: Adjusts the saturation for red, green, blue, yellow, magenta, and cyan.
Audio Settings:
The Audio menu controls sound output:
- Volume: Adjusts the audio volume.
- Mute: Toggles mute on/off.
Gaming Settings:
The Gaming menu offers features tailored for gaming:
- Over Drive: Selects response time (Off, Normal, Extreme). If AMD FreeSync Premium is "ON," Over Drive is automatically set to "Normal."
- AMD FreeSync Premium: Controls support for AMD FreeSync Premium (default is On). If "OFF," Over Drive can be set manually.
- VRB (Visual Response Boost): Supports dynamic picture control for cleaner images (default is Off). VRB is not supported with HDR settings and will be automatically turned off if AMD FreeSync Premium is on or if certain adjustments (Brightness, Blue Light, ACM) are made. It also auto-disables for input timings below 75Hz.
- Refresh Rate Num: Displays the panel's current refresh rate.
- Ultra-Low Latency: Speeds up display switching (On/Off). If AMD FreeSync Premium is "On," Ultra-Low Latency is automatically set to "On" and grayed out. Not supported at resolutions below 800x600.
- Aim Point: Displays an aim point on the screen for shooting games.
OSD Settings:
The OSD menu itself can be configured:
- Language: Sets the OSD menu language.
- OSD Timeout: Adjusts the delay before the OSD menu turns off.
- Transparency: Selects the transparency of the OSD when in gaming mode (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%).
- OSD Lock: Locks the OSD to prevent accidental changes. When locked, an "OSD Locked" message appears, and LED lights change from blue to orange. To unlock, press the "Navi Key" in the middle for more than 3 seconds.
System Settings:
The System menu provides general monitor controls:
- Input: Selects the signal source (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, DP).
- Auto Source: Automatically searches for a signal source (default is On). For surround applications, it must be set to "Off."
- Wide Mode: Selects screen aspect ratio (Full, Aspect).
- Hotkey Assignment: Assigns functions to shortcut keys 1 and 2.
- DDC/CI: Allows monitor settings to be controlled via software (Display Data Channel/Command Interface).
- HDMI Black Level: Adjusts the black level for HDMI input.
- Quick Start Mode: Speeds up boot time (On/Off).
- Over Clock: Enables overclocking for higher refresh rates (default is Off). When "Off," it supports up to 1920x1080 240Hz. When "On," it supports up to 1920x1080 280Hz.
Save Settings:
The "Save Setting to..." menu (available in User mode only) allows users to save up to three user-defined profiles. These profiles store preferred settings for future recall.
Maintenance Features
Cleaning:
To clean the monitor, it is essential to unplug it first. Use a soft cloth to wipe both the screen and the cabinet's front and sides.
Troubleshooting:
The user guide includes a troubleshooting section to help diagnose common issues before seeking service. For a "No picture visible" problem, the suggested remedies depend on the LED status:
- Blue LED: Adjust brightness and contrast via OSD, or reset to default settings.
- Off LED: Check the power switch and ensure the AC power cord is properly connected.
