This document describes the AEG KM 2000 Multiple Use Appliance, a compact kitchen machine designed for various food preparation tasks.

Function Description

The AEG KM 2000 is a versatile kitchen appliance capable of cutting, grating, rasping, kneading, stirring, whipping, and mixing. It features a basic unit with an operating panel, an all-purpose bowl with metal blades and various metal plates, a stirring bowl with kneading hook, stirring element, and beater insert, and a mixer.

Basic Unit with Operating Panel (Figure 1):

  • Operation Indicator (A): Displays the unit's status. Green indicates readiness for operation. Red indicates connection to mains but not ready (e.g., bowl/cover not locked, operating tool blocked). Flashing red indicates motor overheating.
  • Speed Display (B): Shows the current speed setting (0-12). "0" appears when connected to mains. "= =" appears if the operating tool is blocked.
  • ON/OFF Switch (C): Toggles the motor on and off.
  • Buttons for Setting Speed (D): Adjusts the speed level up (+) or down (-) in steps.
  • Pulse Button (E): Provides momentary operation at the set speed. The unit stops when released.
  • Automatic Pulse Button (F): Periodically switches the motor on and off at the set speed. Press again to stop.
  • Turbo Button (G): Briefly increases speed beyond the maximum level for up to 25 seconds during operation, then reverts to the original speed.
  • Cable Storage Compartment (H): Located at the rear for storing unused cable.
  • Latching Slot (I): A slot for the cover's locating pin to lock into.
  • Rating Plate (K): Contains information about the appliance, including voltage requirements.

All Purpose Bowl (Figure 2A) / Metal Blade (Figure 2E) / Metal Plates (Figure 2F-2I): This set of accessories is used for cutting, grating, and rasping.

  • All Purpose Bowl (A): The main container for these operations.
  • Cover with Latching Lug (B): Secures the bowl and ensures safe operation.
  • Stopper / Measuring Beaker (C): Used to push food into the filling inlet and to close it.
  • Blade Protection (D): For safe handling and storage of the metal blades.
  • Metal Blades (E): Extremely sharp, used for general cutting and chopping.
  • Cutting Disk, fine / rough (I) (F): For cutting various foods. Both sides can be used.
  • Grating Disk (II) (G): For grating.
  • Rasping Disk, fine / rough (III) (H): For rasping. Both sides can be used.
  • French Fries Disk (IV) (I): Specifically for making French fries.
  • Spatula (J): For general use with the appliance.
  • Disk Chuck (K): Holds the metal plates in place.

Stirring Bowl (Figure 3A) / Kneading Hook (Figure 3E) / Stirring Element (Figure 3F) / Beater Insert (Figure 3G): These accessories are designed for kneading, stirring, and whipping.

  • Stirring Bowl (A): The container for these operations.
  • Cover with Latching Lug (B): Secures the bowl.
  • Stopper / Measuring Beaker (C): For adding ingredients and closing the filling inlet.
  • Sealing Ring (D): Ensures a tight seal.
  • Kneading Hook (E): For kneading dough.
  • Stirring Element (F): For stirring.
  • Beater Insert (G): Used in conjunction with the stirring element for whipping.

Mixer (Figure 4): The mixer is used for preparing liquids, sauces, mixed drinks, dressings, mayonnaise, and fine-cutting smaller quantities.

  • Mixer Beaker (A): The container for mixing.
  • Sealing Ring (B): Ensures a tight seal for the mixer.
  • Cover (C): Secures the mixer beaker.
  • Cover Beaker (D): A small beaker integrated into the cover for adding ingredients during mixing.

  • All Purpose Bowl Capacity: max. 1500 ml

  • Speed Settings: 1-12, plus pulse and turbo functions.

Usage Features

General Operation:

  1. Placement: Place the unit on a dry and level work surface.
  2. Cable Management: Store unused cable in the cable storage compartment (Figure 1H).
  3. Power Connection: Connect to mains supply. The operation indicator (A) will be red, and the speed display (B) will show "0".
  4. Accessory Selection: Choose the appropriate accessories and operating tool for the task.

Using the All Purpose Bowl / Metal Blade / Metal Plates:

  1. Attaching Bowl: Place the all-purpose bowl (Figure 2A) onto the guide grooves, aligning the ▼/OPEN marking on the bowl with the ▲ on the unit. Turn counterclockwise until the bowl latches (▼/CLOSED above ▲).
  2. Metal Blade: Remove the protective cover. Place the blade into the all-purpose bowl.
  3. Metal Plates: Place the selected metal plate onto the bayonet lock of the plate retainer (Figure 2K). Turn the plate retainer counterclockwise until it stops. Then place the plate retainer into the all-purpose bowl.
  4. Attaching Cover: Place the cover onto the guide lugs, aligning the ▼/OPEN marking on the cover with the ▲ on the all-purpose bowl. Turn counterclockwise until the locating pin locks into the slot (Figure 1I) (▼/CLOSED above ▲ on the bowl).
  5. Starting: Once the cover is locked, the operation indicator turns green. The speed display will show "6" or the last selected speed. Start the equipment by pressing the ON/OFF switch (Figure 1C), pulse button (Figure 1E), or automatic pulse button (Figure 1F).
  6. Speed Adjustment: Use buttons (Figure 1D) to select speeds 1-12.
  7. Food Preparation: Food must be prepared to fit the filling inlet. Use the stopper/measuring beaker (Figure 2C) to push food in.
  8. Metal Plate Specifics:
    • Cut food small enough for the filling inlet.
    • Place materials vertically, side by side.
    • Use only the stopper for pressing.
    • Pressure applied can affect material thickness.
    • Lower speeds for softer materials, higher speeds for harder materials.
    • Cutting plate (F): Speeds 1-6.
    • Grating plate (G): Speeds 10-12.
    • Rasping plate (H): Speeds 1-6.
    • French fries plate (I): Speeds 1-4. Fill with unit switched off.

Using the Stirring Bowl / Kneading Hook / Stirring Element / Beater Insert:

  1. Attaching Bowl: Attach the stirring bowl (Figure 3A) similar to the all-purpose bowl.
  2. Sealing Ring: Place the sealing ring (Figure 3D) onto the opening in the middle of the bowl and twist clockwise until it stops.
  3. Kneading Hook/Stirring Element: Place the kneading hook (Figure 3E) into the stirring bowl. If using the stirring element (Figure 3F), lock it onto the beater insert (Figure 3G) first.
  4. Attaching Cover: Attach and lock the cover similar to the all-purpose bowl.
  5. Starting: Operation indicator turns green, speed display shows "1".
  6. Speed Adjustment: Select speeds 1-6 using buttons (Figure 1D).

Using the Mixer:

  1. Attaching Mixer Beaker: Attach the mixer beaker (Figure 4A) similar to the all-purpose bowl.
  2. Sealing Ring: Ensure the sealing ring (Figure 4B) is properly inserted in the cover.
  3. Attaching Cover: Position the cover, aligning ▼/OPEN on the cover with ▲ on the mixer. Turn counterclockwise until it stops (▼/CLOSED above ▲ on the mixer).
  4. Starting: Operation indicator turns green, speed display shows "10".
  5. Speed Adjustment: Select speeds 1-12 using buttons (Figure 1D).
  6. Cover Beaker: Re-insert the cover beaker (Figure 4D) into the cover opening after locking the cover.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning before First Use:

  • The bowl and all accessories should be carefully cleaned and dried.

Regular Maintenance and Cleaning:

  • Basic Unit, Kneading Hook, Beater Insert: Wipe with a moist cloth only.
  • Locking Slots: Keep clean. Use a dry brush if necessary.
  • Dishwasher Safe Parts (upper section, 60°C):
    • All-purpose bowl and stirring bowl with cover and measuring beaker.
    • Plates and plate retainers.
    • Spatula.
    • Stirring elements.
  • Other Parts: Clean under running water.
  • Sealing Rings (Figures 3D and 4B): Remove, clean, and thoroughly dry before re-inserting.
  • Stains: Food with strong dyes (e.g., carrots) may discolor plastic parts. Remove discoloration with cooking oils. Use a brush if needed, but avoid sharp instruments.
  • Sharp Parts: Exercise special care with sharp blades, metal plates, and mixer blades.
  • Drying: Allow all parts to thoroughly dry.

Safety Instructions:

  • Operate only with the correct voltage as indicated on the rating plate.
  • Connect to a properly installed electrical plug socket.
  • Always supervise operation. Unplug when leaving the room.
  • Keep away from children.
  • Remove mains plug before cleaning, servicing, or when not in use.
  • Do not pull the electrical cord to remove the plug.
  • Handle metal blades with extreme care due to sharpness. Store with protective cap.
  • During operation: DO NOT put fingers or long objects (knives, spoons, spatulas) into the filling inlet. ONLY use the stopper to push in cutting material.
  • Remove cover only after rotating tool elements have stopped.
  • This equipment is for household food processing only. Manufacturer is not liable for damage from improper use.
  • Do not handle with moist or wet hands.
  • Do not immerse the motor-containing part in water.
  • Do not leave switched on unnecessarily. Unplug if not in use for long periods.
  • Do not block or cover ventilation slots.
  • Inspect connecting cable for damage. Replace immediately if damaged by an authorized repair shop or AEG customer service.
  • Repairs must be performed by specialized technical personnel.
