Do you have a question about the AEG NCH74B01AB and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document describes an AEG NCH74B01AB hob, which is an induction cooking appliance with an integrated hood system. It is designed for domestic use in an indoor environment and combines cooking and ventilation functions in a single unit.

Function Description

The hob features four induction cooking zones and an integrated hood. The induction cooking zones generate heat directly in the cookware, ensuring efficient and fast cooking. The hood system is designed to extract cooking fumes and odors, contributing to a cleaner kitchen environment.

The appliance can be activated and deactivated by pressing the On/Off sensor field. Individual cooking zones are controlled via a control bar, allowing users to select desired heat settings from 0 to 9, with an additional PowerBoost function (P) for increased power for a limited time. The hob also includes a pot detection feature that activates cooking zones only when suitable cookware is present and deactivates them if cookware is removed for more than 120 seconds.

The integrated hood offers both automatic and manual operation modes. In automatic mode (AUTO), the fan speed adjusts based on the heat setting of the cooking zones, increasing or decreasing as needed. Manual mode allows users to select from three fan speed levels. A Boost function is available for maximum fan speed to quickly clear large amounts of steam or smoke, operating for a maximum of 8 minutes before reverting to speed level 3. The hood also has an Auto Breeze function that continues to run the fan at a minimum speed for up to 20 minutes after cooking to remove lingering smells.

Timer options include a Count Down Timer, which allows users to set a specific operating duration for a cooking zone, and a Minute Minder, which can be used independently of cooking zones to set a general countdown.

The hob incorporates a Power Management function that distributes available power among active cooking zones, especially when multiple zones are in use and the total power consumption approaches the appliance's limit. This helps protect the house installation fuses by automatically reducing power to some zones if necessary, prioritizing the first selected zone.

Usage Features

The control panel is operated using sensor fields, with displays and indicators providing feedback on active functions. Key usage features include:

  • Pause function: Temporarily sets all active cooking zones to the lowest heat setting (1) and reduces the hood fan speed to 1, allowing for interruptions during cooking.
  • Lock function: Locks the control panel to prevent accidental changes to heat or fan speed settings while the hob is in operation.
  • Child Safety Device: Prevents accidental operation of both the hob and the hood, remaining active even after the hob is deactivated.
  • Bridge function: Connects two left-side cooking zones to operate as a single, larger cooking area, ideal for large cookware.
  • OptiHeat Control (3-step Residual Heat Indicator): Provides visual indication of residual heat in cooking zones (continue cooking, keep warm, residual heat), enhancing safety by warning against hot surfaces.
  • OffSound Control: Allows users to activate or deactivate the sounds produced by the appliance, though certain essential sounds (touching symbols, timer countdown, pressing inactive symbols) remain audible.
  • Power Limitation: Users can adjust the maximum power level of the hob to align with their home's electrical installation, with several predefined power levels available.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the appliance's performance and longevity.

  • Cleaning the hob: The hob surface should be cleaned after each use with a moist cloth and non-abrasive detergent. Special care is advised for the glass surface, avoiding sharp metal tools. Limescale, water rings, and fat stains should be removed when the hob is cool.
  • Cleaning the hood grid: The aluminum grid, which guides air and protects the hood system, can be washed manually or in a dishwasher.
  • Drip tray: A drip tray collects condensation and needs regular emptying. It is accessible by removing the grid and filter housing.
  • Hood filters: The hood system includes grease filters and long-life carbon filters.
    • Grease filters: These collect grease, oil, and food remains. They should be cleaned as soon as visible grease builds up, typically monthly, and can be washed manually or in a dishwasher.
    • Long-life carbon filters: These neutralize smoke and cooking smells. They should be cleaned and regenerated when a specific notification indicator appears. Regeneration involves placing them in an oven at 100°C for 120 minutes. These filters have a maximum of 8 regeneration cycles (approximately 3 years) before needing replacement.
  • Filter notification: The hob has a built-in counter that notifies users when it's time to clean grease filters and regenerate carbon filters, typically after 140 hours of hood use.

The manual also provides troubleshooting steps for common issues, such as the hob not activating, constant beeping, or the hood fan not working correctly, advising users to check connections, clean the control panel, or contact an authorized service center if problems persist.
