How to troubleshoot aermotor FH50 motor that will not run?
    • T
      Timothy YoungAug 2, 2025
If your Aermotor Water Pump motor isn't running, first ensure the disconnect switch is on. If it still doesn't work, check the fuse and replace it if it's blown, or reset the circuit breaker if it has tripped. Also, examine the starting switch and replace it if defective, after disconnecting the power. Inspect all wires at the motor for looseness, disconnections, or incorrect wiring, making sure to disconnect power before checking and tightening. Lastly, check the pressure switch contacts and file them with an emery board or nail file after disconnecting the power.

Why does my aermotor FH50 keep cycling too frequently?
    • B
      Bonnie TranAug 6, 2025
If your Aermotor Water Pump delivers water but doesn't shut off or cycles too frequently, first, disconnect the power and adjust or replace the pressure switch. Ensure all faucets are closed. Check for clogs in the venturi, nozzle, or impeller and clean them if necessary. If you have a standard pressure tank, drain it to the air volume control port. Inspect all pipe connections for air leaks and replace any leaking foot valves. Lastly, check the air charge in a pre-charged tank using a tire pressure gauge at the valve stem. If it's less than the pressure switch cut-in setting (30-50 PSI), add air until it's 2 PSI less than the cut-in setting.

Why am I getting air spurts from the faucets with my Aermotor Water Pump?
    • B
      Brandy DeleonAug 16, 2025
If you're getting air spurts from your faucets with your Aermotor Water Pump, it might be picking up prime; once it does, it should pump solid water without air. Check the suction side of the pump for leaks using soapy water. If the well is gaseous, consult the factory about installing a sleeve in the well. It may also be due to intermittent over-pumping of the well. If water is drawn down below the foot valve, lower the foot valve if possible, or restrict the pump discharge.

Why does the aermotor FH50 Water Pump motor run hot and overload kicks off?
    • K
      kpottsAug 21, 2025
If the Aermotor Water Pump motor runs hot and the overload kicks off, refer to the wiring instructions to ensure the motor is wired correctly. Check with the power company to ensure the voltage is not too low. Refer to the section on too frequent cycling.

Why aermotor FH50 does not deliver water to full capacity?
    • A
      Anthony Mathis PhDAug 27, 2025
If your Aermotor Water Pump isn't delivering water to its full capacity, it could be due to several reasons. If the water level in the well is lower than estimated, a deep well jet will be needed if your well has more than 25’ (7.6M) depth to water. If using steel piping, corrosion or liming might be causing excess friction; replace it with plastic pipe where possible, or with new steel pipe. If the piping is too small, use larger piping. Finally, a packed well point can cause this issue; backflush the well point or sink a new point.

What to do if aermotor FH50 Water Pump motor runs but no water is delivered?
    • T
      Tamara MartinNov 10, 2025
If your Aermotor Water Pump motor runs but no water is delivered, and it's a new installation, re-prime the pump according to the instructions. Check all connections on the suction line, AVC, and ejector with soapy water or shaving cream for air leaks. Replace the foot valve or check valve if they are leaking. If the installation is already in use, check all connections on the suction line and shaft seal. Lower the suction line into the water and re-prime. Clean the foot valve or strainer if plugged. Also, clean the ejector or impeller if they are plugged. Replace the check valve or foot valve if stuck shut. Thaw pipes if frozen. Raise the foot valve and/or strainer above the bottom of the water source if buried in sand or mud. If the water level is too low for a shallow well setup, a deep...
