Memory
Areas
The syn

three
memory
areas

calibration
constan

W
orking
Data
W
orking
data
is
the
set
of
calibration
constan
ts accessed
during normal
operation
and
contains
the calibration
information required
for optim

instrumen
t
p
erformance.
W
orking
data
is
stored
in
RAM,
and
is
main

Protected
Data
Protected
data
resides
in
EEPR
OM.
This
calibration
data is
essentially
the same
as
w
orking
data,
but is
not dep
enden
t
on
the
capacitor.
If
the
syn
thesizer's
c
hec
ksum
test
fails,
or
if
the
capacitor
b
ecomes
disc
harged
and
w
orking
data
is
lost,
the
syn
thesizer
copies
protected data
v
alues
in
to
w
orking
data RAM.
Caution
If
the
calibration
constan
ts
are
defaulted,
the
synthesizer
will
need
to
b
e
completely
adjusted
before
it will
meet its
sp
ecication.
Default
Data
Default
data
resides in
UVEPR
OM.
This
data
diers
from
w
orking
and
protected
data
in
that
it
cannot

c
hanged.
This
data
represents
a
t

syn
thesizer,
and
is
not
optimized
for
y

t.
The
default
calibration
constan
ts
are
a
starting
p

t
for
calibration.
The syn
thesizer
will
probably
not
meet
sp
ecications.
The
syn

uses
default
data
if

Checksum V
erification
At
instrument
p

w
er
on,
the
calibration
constan
ts
stored
in
RAM
are
added
and
compared
with
the
c
hecksum
value.
If the
tw
o
v
alues
matc
h,
the
curren
t
calibration
constan
ts
are
main
tained
in
RAM.
If the RAM c
hecksum do es not v
erify
, the calibration constan
ts are loaded in
to RAM from
EEPR
OM. These calibration constan
ts are added and compared with their c
hecksum v
alue. If
the t
wov
alues matc
h, these calibration constan
ts (from EEPR
OM)
are main
tained in RAM.
If the RAM c
hecksum still does not v
erify,
the default calibration constan
ts are loaded
into
RAM from UVEPR
OM. A message is displa
yed on the syn
thesizer indicating that the
default calibration constan
ts are in use. The syn
thesizer will probably
not
meet performance
specications. All the performance tests
should be run.
