To search by initials:
Dial (at least) the first two letters, or the initials (first name, name) of the person to
be called:
 to enter a letter, press the key corresponding to the letter the appropriate number
of times, depending on the position of the letter on the key.
e.g.: to enter the letter L, press key 5 three times. To enter, consecutively, two
letters on the same key, wait for the cursor to move forward one space and then
enter the second letter,
 to enter a numeric character, press the key once more than the number of letters
printed on it.
e.g.: to enter 2, press the key four times.
Press to initiate the search. The result of the search is displayed on the
screen.
