The Algam Lighting LIGHT192 is a 192-channel DMX controller designed for programming and controlling lighting fixtures. It allows for the programming of 12 scanners, each with 16 DMX channels, across 30 banks of 8 programmable scenes, and 6 chases of 240 programmed scenes. The controller utilizes 8 faders and other control buttons for operation.

Function Description:

The LIGHT192 serves as a central control unit for DMX-compatible lighting fixtures. Its primary function is to create and manage lighting shows through scenes and chases.

  • DMX OUT (1): Sends DMX signals to lighting fixtures or packs.
  • DC INPUT (2): Provides power to the unit (DC 9-12V, 300mA minimum).
  • POWER ON/OFF (3): Turns the unit on or off.
  • FIXTURES (4): Selects any or all of the 12 available fixtures.
  • SCENES (5): Used to store or run programmed scenes.
  • ECRAN LCD (6): A 4-digit display showing selected values and settings.
  • BANK (7): Allows selection from 30 available banks.
  • CHASES (8): Used to select from 1 to 6 chases.
  • PROGRAM (9): Activates the program mode, indicated by a blinking display.

  • TAP SYNC/DISPLAY (13): In Auto Chase mode, it changes the rate of the chase; in program mode, it changes the LCD display value.
  • BLACKOUT (14): Disables all channel outputs, acting as a priority function over other operations.
  • FADE TIME SLIDERS (15): Adjusts the Fade Time, which is the transition time between DMX controller scenes.
  • SPEED SLIDERS (16): Adjusts the rate of chase speed in Auto Mode.
  • PAGE SELECTOR (17): Selects page A for channels 1 to 8, or page B for channels 9 to 16.
  • FADERS (18): Adjusts the output level from 0-255 or the intensity from 0%-100% for each channel, depending on the selected page.

Important Technical Specifications:

Usage Features:

The LIGHT192 offers comprehensive control over DMX lighting, allowing users to create custom light shows.

DMX 512 Addressing:

  • Each of the 12 fixtures is assigned 16 channels.
  • Fixture addressing is done using DIP switches, with specific combinations for each scanner (e.g., Scanner 1: 1-16 channels, DIP Switch 1; Scanner 2: 17-32 channels, DIP Switches 1-5). Users are advised to follow the starting address provided in the manual rather than the one found in their fixture's user manual.

Scene Programming:

  • Programming a Scene:
    1. Press and hold the PROGRAM button for three seconds to activate program mode (LCD blinks).
    2. Select fixtures (1-12) to program.
    3. Adjust faders for desired output levels (Color, Gobo, Pan, Tilt, etc.). Use PAGE SELECTOR A/B for fixtures with more than 8 channels, moving sliders to activate channels when switching pages.
    4. Press the SCANNER button after adjusting a fixture to hold its configuration. Repeat for other fixtures.
    5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all fixtures are set.
    6. Press and release MIDI/ADD.
    7. Select a bank (using BANK buttons) to store the scene (30 banks, 8 scenes/bank, total 240 scenes).
    8. Press a Scene Button (1-8) to store the scene (all LEDs blink 3 times, LCD shows bank and scene).
    9. Repeat steps 2-8 to record desired scenes.
  • Copying Fixture Settings: Press and hold the source scanner button, then press the target scanner button to copy settings.
  • Exiting Programming Mode: Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds. If Blackout LED is on, press BLACKOUT to deactivate.
  • Editing a Scene:
    1. Press and hold PROGRAM for three seconds.
    2. Use BANK buttons to select the bank with the scene to edit.
    3. Press the SCENE button for the scene to edit.
    4. Use faders for adjustments.
    5. Press MIDI/ADD, then the SCENE button to save changes (ensure the same scene is selected to avoid overwriting).
  • Copying a Scene:
    1. Press and hold PROGRAM for three seconds.
    2. Use BANK buttons to select the source bank.
    3. Press the SCENE button for the scene to copy.
    4. Use BANK buttons to select the destination bank.
    5. Press MIDI/ADD, then the SCENE button to copy.
  • Deleting a Scene:
    1. Select the scene to delete.
    2. While holding AUTO/DEL, press the SCENE button (1-8) to delete.
  • Erasing All Scenes:
    1. Press and hold PROGRAM and BANK buttons while turning power off.
    2. Reconnect power; all scenes will be erased.

Scene Playback:

  • Manual Run Scenes:
    1. Ensure AUTO and MUSIC LEDs are off.
    2. Select a bank (using BANK buttons).
    3. Press a SCENE button to run the selected scene.
  • Auto Run Scenes:
    1. Press AUTO/DEL once to activate Auto Run mode.
    2. Use BANK buttons to select a bank of scenes.
    3. Use SPEED and FADE sliders to adjust scene playback. Fade time should not be slower than speed.
    4. Change banks on the fly using BANK buttons.
  • Music Run Scenes:
    1. Press MUSIC/BANK COPY (indicator light on LCD).
    2. Select desired bank (using BANK buttons or MIDI signals).
    3. Press MUSIC/BANK COPY again to exit.

MIDI Control:

  • MIDI Run Scenes: Select a bank to run scenes using MIDI in Manual, Auto, or Music Run mode.

Chase Programming:

  • Programming a Chase: (Scenes must be programmed first)
    1. Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds.
    2. Choose a CHASE (1-6).
    3. Select desired scenes from any bank (scenes run in programmed order).
    4. Press MIDI/ADD (all LEDs flash 3 times).
    5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to add up to 240 scenes per chase.
    6. Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds to exit.
  • Adding a Step to a Chase:
    1. Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds.
    2. Select a CHASE (1-6). Press TAP SYNC/DISPLAY (LCD shows scene and bank).
    3. Press TAP SYNC/DISPLAY again (LCD shows selected chase).
    4. Use UP/DOWN buttons to scroll through the chase to the desired insertion point.
    5. Press MIDI/ADD (LCD shows new step number).
    6. Press the scene button to add.
    7. Press MIDI/ADD again to add the new step.
    8. Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds to exit.
  • Deleting a Step in a Chase:
    1. Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds.
    2. Select a CHASE (1-6).
    3. Press TAP SYNC/DISPLAY (LCD shows selected chase).
    4. Use UP/DOWN buttons to scroll to the step to delete.
    5. Press AUTO/DEL (scene deleted).
    6. Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds to exit.
  • Deleting Chases:
    1. Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds.
    2. Press the chase button to delete.
    3. Press and hold AUTO/DEL, then press and hold the CHASE button (LEDs flash 3 times).
    4. Release both buttons; the chase is deleted.
  • Deleting All Chases:
    1. Press and hold BANK and AUTO/DEL while turning power off.
    2. Reconnect power; all chases will be deleted.

Chase Playback:

  • Manual Run Chases:
    1. Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds.
    2. Select a CHASE (1-6).
    3. Press TAP SYNC/DISPLAY to step through the chase.
    4. Use BANK buttons to scroll through chases.
    5. Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds to exit.
  • Auto Run Chases:
    1. Press any or all CHASE buttons to select desired chase(s).
    2. Press and release AUTO/DEL (corresponding LED flashes).
    3. Adjust Speed and Fade Time.
    4. Override speed/fade time by tapping TAP SYNC/DISPLAY three times (chase runs based on tap interval).
    • Important: Never set Fade Time slower than Speed, or scenes won't complete. To include all chases, press AUTO/DEL before selecting a chase.
  • Music Run Chases:
    1. Press one of the six CHASE buttons.
    2. Press and release MUSIC/BANK-COPY (LED flashes on LCD).
    3. Chase runs to sound.
    • Note: When exiting a chase by pressing CHASE, the controller runs scenes from the last accessed bank. To stop lights, use BLACKOUT or press MUSIC (if in music mode) or AUTO.

Bank Operations:

  • Copy Bank:
    1. Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds.
    2. Select the bank to copy.
    3. Press and release MIDI/ADD.
    4. Select the destination bank.
    5. Press MUSIC/BANK COPY (LCD flashes briefly).
  • Delete a Bank:
    1. Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds.
    2. Select the bank to delete.
    3. Press AUTO/DEL and MUSIC/BANK COPY simultaneously (LCD flashes).
  • Copy a Bank to a Chase:
    1. Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds.
    2. Select the bank of scenes to copy.
    3. Select the CHASE to copy the bank into.
    4. Press MUSIC/BANK COPY and MIDI/ADD simultaneously (scenes copied).
    5. Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds to exit.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Maintenance:
    • Never attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the unit yourself to avoid voiding the warranty and potential damage.
    • Contact an authorized service center for repairs.
    • Disconnect the unit from the mains before any servicing.
    • If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent.
    • Never immerse the unit in water or any liquid; wipe with a slightly damp cloth only.

Safety Instructions:

  • General: Read the entire manual before use.
  • Electrical Safety:
    • Hazardous voltage, risk of electric shock. Do not open the product.
    • Do not expose to rain or moisture.
    • Ensure the unit is connected to earth (ground) and the electrical supply circuit has a fuse or circuit breaker and a differential protection device.
    • Never cut or tamper with the power cord or plug. Always hold the power cord by the plug; do not pull on the cord itself or touch with wet hands.
    • Do not connect to a dimmer pack.
    • Unplug the unit from the mains before a thunderstorm or lightning storm.
  • Fire Hazard: Keep combustible and flammable materials away from the unit during operation.
  • Installation:
    • Check for transport damage before use; do not operate a damaged unit.
    • For indoor use only, in a dry environment.
    • Install with strong, adequately sized hooks, screwed properly to prevent falls due to vibrations.
    • Ensure the structure can support at least 10 times the unit's weight.
    • Installation must be done by a qualified person and out of public reach. Use a secondary hanging system (safety sling).
    • Do not place the unit, speakers, or other objects on top of the power cord.
    • Ensure adequate ventilation (at least 20 cm clear space around sides and top).
  • Usage:
    • Not for use by persons with limited physical, physiological, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience/knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person.
    • Never leave unattended.
    • Stop using immediately if problems occur; do not attempt self-repair. Contact your dealer or an authorized service center. No user-replaceable parts.
  • Environmental Conditions:
    • Avoid areas with vibrations, bumps, ambient temperatures outside 2°C to 45°C, or excessive dryness/humidity (ideal: 35%-80%).
    • Do not use near flames, flammable/explosive materials, or hot surfaces.
  • Power Cord: Use the supplied grounded power cable. Ensure power supply voltage and frequency match unit requirements.
  • Liquids/Objects: Do not allow liquids or objects to enter the unit. If spillage occurs, immediately unplug and contact customer service.
  • Housing: Never open the housing; it contains dangerous voltages and no operational components.

Troubleshooting:

  • Colors/Mirrors don't respond to fader movement: Check DMX address. If XLR cable is over 30 meters, check termination. For mirrors, ensure speed is adjusted.
  • Scenes don't run after recording: Ensure ADD button was pressed before SCENE. Verify correct bank with recorded scenes.
  • Scenes don't run correctly as recorded: Ensure all fixtures were recorded. Verify correct bank. If XLR cable is over 30 meters, check termination.
  • Chases don't run after recording: Ensure ADD button was pressed after SCENE (LED should blink). Verify correct chase with recorded steps. In Auto Mode, check speed adjustment. Is Fade time too long for selected speed? If XLR cable is over 30 meters, check termination.
