SPC 20 OPERATOR’S MANUAL
C-4 OPERATION
After grain is harvested it can be handled in several different ways. Grain can be directed to a bulk
grain tank using a Y-valve for bulk harvesting and seed increases. Shift the Y-valve to divert
samples to a bagging station either next to the driver or to a side bagging station. These stations
can be equipped with weigh hoppers and moisture probes to facilitate in field data capture.
Hydraulic unload auger options allow easy unloading of grain tank, and hydraulic dump hopper
options allow simple unloading of bagged samples.
HEADER FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
(See Diagrams in Part Manual)
ROW CROP HEAD:
A Row Crop Head functions by first pinching the plant between two opposing convoluted gathering
belts, while the plant is cut off by a rotating knife. The gathering belts carry the plant to the throat
where the plant material is transferred onto a chevron style conveyor belt. This belt carries the
material up the throat where it is forced into the threshing chamber by an upper pinch belt. It is
important to note that the speed of the gathering belts should match or just exceed the ground
speed. If the belts run too slowly the plant can be pushed over forward increasing the chances of
feeding problems. If the belt runs too fast the plant is jerked into the belts, possibly knocking off
seed.
