Why does my American Standard 21 Series make sounds?
Several factors can cause sounds from the unit: * A slight ticking sound might be heard when the unit starts, due to the electronic expansion valve initializing. * You might hear the sound of gas refrigerant flowing when cooling. * Sounds can occur when gas refrigerant starts or stops flowing as the unit starts or stops. * A slight sound may be heard when the unit is running or after running, which is the drainage system operating. * Cracking or popping sounds heard in heating and defrost can be due to the unit panels expanding or contracting because of temperature change.
