this switch is to preserve the operation of the appliance at low ambient
temperatures. For example, if you had to place your fridge somewhere
temporarily (e.g. in a garage or outbuilding whilst work is carried
out) and the ambient temperature would likely fall to below freezing,
flicking this switch would activate a special algorithm. This algorithm
would deactivate the fridge as necessary (because the temperature is
already low) and activate the freezer as necessary. Under normal use
you will not need to use this switch and we remind you that the climate
class for this appliance means ambient temperatures should not fall
below 16°C nor exceed 32°C.
Defrosting the fridge
The fridge should not require defrosting in normal operation. Any
water from the back wall of the fridge gathers in a channel at the
rear of the appliance, drains through a drain hole and collects in the
evaporating tray above the compressor. The evaporating tray (at the
rear of the appliance, above the compressor - Fig. 5) and the drain
hole (Fig. 4) should be cleaned periodically to prevent issues.
