8 Accessibility of Uninsulated Live Parts, Film-Coated Wire, and Moving Parts
8.1 General
8.1.1 An uninsulated live part, film-coated wire, or moving part, that could result in a risk of electric shock
or injury to persons shall be located or enclosed so that unintentional contact is precluded.
8.1.1 effective April 13, 1993
8.1.2 An opening in the enclosure of a converter or inverter that will not permit entrance of a 3/4 inch
(19.1 mm) diameter rod is acceptable if a probe as illustrated in Figure 8.1 cannot be made to touch any
uninsulated live part, film-coated wire, and moving part, that could result in a risk of electric shock when
inserted through the opening.
