WARNING
Against the theoretical possibility of a carburetor fire Apollo strictly and repeatedly
prohibits the modification of any structures and the alterations of components without its
former approval with a special attention to engines and their operating environment.
7.4 Fire on board
Apollo C15 DD - Delta Jet 2 912 WSC aircraft type has been designed and tested in a
way, which practically excludes the possibility of the occurrence of any fire on the trike.
However as fuel can get onto most parts of the trike
- by the leakage of the fuel hoses (e.g. aging lines or tubes getting damaged)
- by splitting at non professional tanking (e.g. lack of proper funnel) and with no correct
wiping afterwards
- and several other ways,
and as sparks can be generated by
- damaged electric wire (ageing or getting worn)
- collision of metal components (e.g. parts getting free in flight)
- and several other ways
fire on board cannot be excluded.
In such a case an instant emergency landing may result an escape.
NOTE
The means of prevention of such occurrence is the strict observance of maintenance
prescriptions.
7.5 Vibration
The motor running irregularly, by damaged or non-balanced propeller, by damaged motor
cradle or muffler fixation, may cause vibration. Take back the gas and decrease the
speed. If the vibration remains or does not decreases to an acceptable measure land and
find the cause of the vibration. Restart is allowed if the cause has been revealed and
eliminated. Vibration may occur when flying slowly and can be eliminated by increasing
RPM, and it can occur also, when flying over the speed limits. As flying over the allowed
maximum speed may result in aero elastic phenomena which in some cases cannot be
reversed, therefore it is prohibited!
7.6 Motor stoppage
The motor of a WSC aircraft may stop at any point of the flight path. Control the amount of
fuel and the height of the aircraft. If it seems to be reasonable we are over 150 meter -
attempt to restart the motor. If the motor does not restart or the height requires that, make
a landing with stopped motor and follow the landing procedure 7.7. Even if the motor has
started land at the closest airfield, investigate the motor, find the cause of stoppage, repair
the failure discovered and only then continue the flight.
NOTE
This kind of landing is a qualified case of forced landings. The safety of flight increases
with the height of the point where the stoppage occurred, see point 7.7.
