7.10 Icing
It is well known that certain relative humidity/temperature value-pairs increase the
probability of generating ice on certain parts of the aircraft. In traditional flight ice on the
wing and on the fuselage, or on control surfaces and their activating devices may cause
uncontrollability of the aircraft. Concerning WSC aircrafts Apollo has no information of
similar cases. However he is aware of the theoretical possibility of the phenomenon and to
prevent the possible consequence here stay some procedures. In icing whether
conditions:
- Land with higher speed.
- Do not fly steeply banked turns
- Move the control bar
- Change the RPM of the motor.
At the same time he kindly asks the customers to further all information of this kind if
obtained any.
Icing of the carburetor intake is a well-known and frequently suspected cause of a
motor failure. When a motor failure occurs the action to be done is known (see points
7.1.1, 7.1.2, 7.1.3), however the prevention of the phenomenon is to be known by every
WSC aircraft pilot, therefore
- learn the susceptible relative humidity/temperature values which makes a flight risky,
- equip your aircratft with carburator heating device which is an option of ApolloC15 DD
- Delta Jet 2 - R912 type aircrafts.
NOTE
An accident or incident occurring with the contribution of icing is a typical pilot mistake and
cannot be qualified as „technical mistake” (motor failure: See: 7.1.3 WARNING)
8. Operational limitations
8.1 General limitations
The WSC aircraft of type Apollo C15 DD - Delta Jet 2 - R912 can be applied to sporting,
training and commercial flying as well. It can be flown both, by one or two persons.
Besides the rules in this manual these applications are to be fitted to the regulations of the
country of operation.
Visual Flight Regulations can fly the aircraft equipped with instruments according
to this present manual in appropriate weather. Ground is to be seen from every
point of the flight.
Maximum allowed bank in turns and spirals is 60º either one or two persons in the trike.
The use of airspeed indicator is obligatory.
