NEVER leave the ignition key inserted, and
always use the steering lock.
Park the vehicle in a safe place, in a garage
or other attended site if possible.
Whenever possible, use the aprilia “Body-
Guard” shielded cable or other antitheft
device.
Make sure that your documents and permit
are in order.

Danger of fire.
Fuel and other flammable substances
must be kept away from electrical
components.
Before beginning any maintenance or
inspection operations on the vehicle, stop
the engine e remove the key, wait for the
engine and exhaust system to cool, lift
the vehicle with the appropriate
equipment if possible, on a flat, hard
surface.
Before proceeding, make sure that the
work area has adequate ventilation.
Be especially careful around any parts of
the engine and exhaust system that may
still be warm, to avoid burns.
Non hold any mechanical or other part of
the vehicle in your mouth: no
components are edible, but some are
harmful or even toxic.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise,
reassemble all units by carrying out the
disassembly operations in reverse.
We recommend that you wear latex
gloves while performing maintenance
operations.
Routine maintenance operations may
normally be carried out by the user; in some
cases they may require specific equipment
and technical experience.
Should you require service or technical
assistance, contact an aprilia dealer to
ensure thorough, rapid service.
We recommend asking your aprilia dealer
to test-drive the vehicle after performing any
repairs or scheduled maintenance.
However, you should personally carry out the
“Preliminary Checks” after maintenance, see
page 49 (TABLE OF PRELIMINARY
CHECKS).
