THE NATURE OF HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS
The use of Portable Automotive Lifting Devices are subject to certain hazards that cannot be prevented by mechanical means, but only
by the exercise of intelligence, care, and common sense. It is essential to have personnel involved in the use and operation of the device
who are careful, competent, trained, and qualified in the safe operation of the device and its proper use when servicing motor vehicles
and their components. Examples of hazards are dropping, tipping or slipping of loads caused primarily by improperly securing loads,
overloading, off-centered loads, use on other than hard level surfaces, and using equipment for a purpose for which it was not intended.
METHODS TO AVOID HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS
Read, study, understand and follow all instructions before operating this device.
Inspect the jack before each use. Do not use jack if damaged, altered, modified, in poor condition, leaking hydraulic fluid, or
unstable due to loose or missing components. Make corrections before using.
Lift only on areas of the vehicle as specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
User and bystander must wear eye protection that meets ANSI Z87.1 and OSHA standards.
Do not use jack beyond its rated capacity. Do not shock load.
THIS IS A LIFTING DEVICE. Immediately after lifting, support the vehicle with jack stands capable of sustaining the load before
working on the vehicle.
Use only on a hard level surface free from obstructions so the jack is free to reposition itself during lifting and lowering
operations.
Center load on saddle. Be sure setup is stable before working on vehicle.
Do not move or dolly the vehicle while on the jack.
Do not use any materials that may serve as risers, spacers or extenders between the stock lifting saddle and the load.
Do not use any adaptors that replace the stock lifting saddle unless approved or supplied by the jack manufacturer.
Do not use (or modify) this product for any other purpose than that for which it was designed without consulting the
manufacturer's authorized representative.
Always lower the jack slowly and carefully.
Failure to heed these warnings may result in fatal personal injury and/or property damage.
CONSEQUENCES OF NOT AVOIDING HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS
Failure to read this manual completely and thoroughly, failure to understand its OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS, SAFETY WARNINGS,
MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS and comply with them, and failure to comply with the METHODS TO AVOID HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS
could cause accidents resulting in serious or fatal personal injury and/or property damage.

Overview

The Arcan Blackline Model XL35B is a 3.5 Ton Professional Low Lift Service Jack designed for lifting automotive vehicles and their components. This device is intended for use by careful, competent, trained, and qualified personnel who understand its safe operation and proper application. It is crucial to read the entire manual thoroughly before operating the jack to ensure understanding of its operating procedures, safety warnings, and maintenance requirements. The owner is responsible for ensuring all personnel read this manual and for keeping it intact and accessible. If the operator is not fluent in English, the instructions must be read and discussed in their native language to ensure comprehension.

Function Description:

The Arcan Blackline XL35B is a self-contained hydraulic lifting device. Its primary function is to lift a partial vehicular load, allowing for maintenance or repair work underneath. It is important to note that this jack is designed for lifting purposes only and is not intended to sustain a load. Once a vehicle is lifted, it must immediately be supported by appropriate jack stands capable of sustaining the load before any work is performed. The jack operates by pumping a handle to raise the lift arm, which then contacts and lifts the load via a saddle. Lowering the load is achieved by slowly turning the handle in a counterclockwise direction, releasing the hydraulic pressure.

Usage Features:

To operate the jack safely and effectively, several key steps and precautions must be followed. Before lifting, ensure the vehicle's transmission is in park or gear, and the emergency brake is applied. Position the jack under the vehicle's designated lifting areas as specified by the vehicle manufacturer. The load must be centered on the jack's saddle to ensure stability. Once the load is raised to the desired height, immediately place jack stands under the vehicle's recommended support areas. It is critical to never crawl under a vehicle while it is being lifted or while placing/removing jack stands. When lowering the load, first raise it slightly off the jack stands, then remove the stands, and finally, slowly lower the vehicle completely to the ground. Always keep hands and feet clear of the jack's hinge mechanism during operation. The jack should only be used on a hard, level surface free from obstructions to allow for proper repositioning during lifting and lowering. Avoid using any materials as risers, spacers, or extenders between the saddle and the load, and only use manufacturer-approved adaptors. The jack should never be used beyond its rated capacity or for shock loading.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the longevity and safe operation of the Arcan Blackline XL35B. Before each use, a visual inspection should be performed to check for leaking hydraulic fluid, damaged, loose, or missing parts. Any jack showing signs of damage, excessive wear, or abnormal operation must be removed from service until repaired. Periodically, the jack requires lubrication. This includes adding grease to the grease fitting in the lift arm pivot shaft using a multi-purpose NLGI type grease. All linkages and pivot points should be lubricated with white lithium spray grease. The handle receptacle and handle end also require lubrication with white lithium spray grease after removing the handle. Additionally, the bearings of both rear casters and both front wheels should be lubricated with white lithium spray grease. All accessible hardware should be tightened as needed.

The hydraulic system may occasionally trap air, especially after shipping. Symptoms of trapped air include partial pump strokes, inability to lift a load, or a spongy feel when pumping. To purge air, ensure the saddle is in its lowest position, remove the cover plate and oil filler screw, and check the hydraulic fluid level (it should be no higher than the top of the cylinder). Only use hydraulic jack oil, a light turbine oil, Chevron Hydraulic Oil AW ISO 32, or Unocal Unax AW 150; never use alcohol, hydraulic brake fluid, or transmission oil. Close the release valve, pump the jack against a load of at least 500 pounds to maximum height, then slowly lower the load while simultaneously and quickly pumping the handle several times. Repeat this process until all air is purged. The jack should be stored in a dry location with all wheels on a level surface. The jack's labels must be kept clean and readable, which can be achieved by washing external surfaces with a mild soap solution, avoiding moving hydraulic components.
