This document describes the Argo Dry Compact 21 dehumidifier, an appliance designed for domestic use to efficiently reduce humidity levels. It uses R290, a natural refrigerant with a low global warming potential, making it an environmentally conscious choice.
Function Description
The primary function of the Argo Dry Compact 21 is to extract moisture from the air, thereby reducing the relative humidity in a room. It operates by drawing in humid air, passing it over a cold evaporator coil where moisture condenses into water, and then expelling drier air back into the room. The collected water is stored in a removable condensate collection tank. The unit is designed to operate within ambient temperatures ranging from +5°C to +35°C. If temperatures drop below 5°C, the dehumidifier may enter a defrost mode to prevent ice buildup on the evaporator, during which the compressor stops but the fan continues to run. The dehumidification function may intermit during defrosting.
The dehumidifier features a control panel that allows users to adjust various settings. It includes an ON/OFF button for power control, a FILTER button to indicate when the air filter needs cleaning, and RELATIVE HUMIDITY ADJUSTER BUTTONS (-/+) to set the desired humidity level between 35% and 80% in 5% increments. Alternatively, users can select a continuous drain (CO) mode for maximum dehumidification capacity. A DISPLAY shows the current relative humidity setting. The FAN SPEED BUTTON allows users to select between Low, Medium, and High fan speeds. A TIMER ON/OFF BUTTON enables delayed on/off operation with options for 2, 4, or 6-hour delays.
LED indicators on the control panel provide visual feedback on the unit's status:
- LED On: Indicates the unit is working.
- LED Cont: Shows that the unit is running in Continuous mode.
- LED Filter: Illuminates when the filter needs cleaning.
- LED TIMER: Indicates that the timer is set.
- LED HIGH/MED/LOW FAN SPEED: Displays the currently selected fan speed.
- LED Full: Lights up when the condensate collection tank is full, accompanied by a 10-second beep, after which the unit automatically turns off.
The dehumidifier also incorporates a MEMORY FUNCTION, allowing it to restart with the last used settings after a power failure.
Usage Features
Before initial operation, it is crucial to ensure the dehumidifier has been kept vertical for at least two hours to allow the refrigerant to stabilize. The unit must be placed on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface, at least 1 meter away from flammable or heat-sensitive materials and 50 cm away from walls or other obstructions to ensure proper heat dissipation. The water tank must be correctly positioned before connecting the power cord to a suitable 220-240V/50Hz electric socket.
The dehumidifier will only begin operating if the room's humidity level is above the set value. It will continue to run until the target humidity is reached, or until the water tank is full. If the tank becomes full, the unit will beep and turn off, requiring the user to empty and reposition the tank for continued operation. A safety delay of at least 3 minutes is implemented after any interruption before the compressor restarts, preventing damage.
For continuous operation without needing to empty the tank, the unit supports continuous condensate drainage. This involves connecting a PVC hose (14 mm inner diameter, not supplied) to a dedicated connection point on the unit. It is important that the drainage hose's height does not exceed that of the hole and that the hose exit is not blocked. When using continuous drainage, the internal collection tank should not be used simultaneously to prevent leaks.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the dehumidifier's efficient operation and longevity.
Exterior Surface Cleaning:
Always disconnect the appliance from the mains power before cleaning. Use a damp, soft cloth to clean the exterior surface. Avoid using solvents, petrol, xylene, talcum powder, or abrasive brushes, as these can damage the casing's surface or color. Do not immerse the appliance in water or wet it directly, as this poses a risk of electric shock.
Water Tank Cleaning:
The condensate collection tank should be cleaned every few weeks to prevent mold and bacteria growth. This involves removing the tank, filling it with clean water and a small amount of detergent, swilling the water around, emptying it, and then rinsing it thoroughly.
Air Filter Cleaning:
The air filter removes dust and dirt from the air. A clogged filter can increase electricity consumption and reduce efficiency. The filter should be cleaned when the "FILTER" LED illuminates (after approximately 250 hours of operation). To clean the filter:
- Remove the condensate collection tank.
- Pull down the flap to extract the filter.
- Wash the filter with warm, soapy water.
- Do not use alcohol, benzene, or other aggressive products to clean the filter.
- Allow the filter to dry naturally.
- Reposition the filter by pushing it upwards until it clicks into place.
- Reposition the water tank.
After cleaning, press the FILTER button to reset the indicator. Operating the dehumidifier without the filter is not recommended, as dust can affect the evaporator's efficiency and increase energy consumption.
In case of any anomaly or malfunction, the appliance should be switched off and unplugged immediately. Users should not attempt to dismantle, repair, or modify the product themselves. Any malfunctions should be addressed by contacting an authorized after-sales service center.
