Transferring the Patient to a Wheelchair
• Make sure to apply the wheelchair brakes.
• Help or encourage the patient to achieve the sitting position.
• The patient’s knees should stay in contact with the kneepad, and the patient should sit back on the seat
halves during the transfer.

3) Pivot the two seat halves up.
2) Ask the patient to stand up.
4) Ask the patient to sit down holding
the crossbar.

and apply
the brakes.
