Questions and Answers

Overview

This document is a user manual for the ASPES Electrical Water Heater models ATE51D, ATE81D, and ATE101D. It provides essential information for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of the appliance, which is intended for domestic use only.

Function Description

The ASPES Electrical Water Heater is designed to heat water for domestic use. It incorporates several safety and operational features to ensure efficient and reliable performance. The device heats water using an internal resistance element, controlled by a thermostat to maintain a desired temperature.

Key Functions:

  • Water Heating: Heats water to a user-defined temperature between 25°C and 75°C.
  • Temperature Control: Allows users to set the desired water temperature via a display and setting button.
  • ON/OFF Control: The water heater can be switched on and off using a V-Automated switch, which also acts as a safety device.
  • Smart Cleaning System: Automatically heats water above 65°C for 1 hour once a week (if the manual setting is below 65°C) to prevent bacteria growth.
  • Economy Mode: Operates at an optimal temperature of 55°C (indicated by an "eco" icon) for energy saving and human health.
  • Safety Valve: Prevents water drainage in case of a water cut and discharges water in case of overpressure in the boiler.
  • Limiting Thermostat: Disables the heating resistance if temperatures in the drum become excessive or if the main temperature setting thermostat fails.
  • Anti-freeze Safety: Automatically activates the heating resistance to heat water to 16°C if the internal temperature drops below 5°C, protecting the appliance from freezing. This system activates when the water heater is in stand-by.
  • Dry Operation Safety: Displays an E3 error code and intervenes if the device operates without water, preventing damage.
  • Low Voltage Safety: Activates and displays an E2 error code if the voltage drops to a harmful level due to fluctuations, protecting the device.

Usage Features

The water heater is designed for user-friendly operation with a clear display and controls.

Controls and Indicators:

  • Temperature Display: Shows the current and set water temperature.
  • ON/OFF and Temperature Setting Button: Used to turn the appliance on/off and adjust the desired temperature using up and down arrows.
  • Status Indicators: Provide visual feedback on the appliance's operational status.
  • Eco Setting: An icon on the display indicates the economy mode (55°C).
  • Hot Water Display: Indicates when hot water is ready to use (shower sign activated).
  • Resistance Display: Shows when the heating resistance is active.

Operational Guidelines:

  • Initial Use: Ensure the water heater is filled with water before initial use and switch on the V-Automated switch. The set temperature will flash, then the current inner temperature will be displayed.
  • Temperature Adjustment: Use the arrows next to the display to set the desired temperature.
  • Hot Water Ready: The resistance indicator will flash, and the shower sign will activate when the target temperature is reached.
  • Automatic Reheating: The resistance reactivates to reheat water when the temperature drops 4 degrees below the set point.
  • Installation: Must be installed by an ASPES Authorized Service. Avoid installing in freezing areas, non-ventilated/humid areas, or areas with direct sunlight or dangerous substances. Do not use extension cables or multi-plugs.
  • Safety Precautions: Do not operate without grounding, without being filled with water, or if the power cable/appliance is damaged. Children aged 8 and above, and individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, can use the appliance under supervision and after understanding the hazards.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for prolonging the appliance's life and ensuring optimal performance.

Routine Maintenance:

  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Should be performed by authorized ASPES services. Turn off the appliance and disconnect power before cleaning.
  • Magnesium Bar Check: The magnesium bar, which protects against corrosion, should be checked annually and replaced by authorized service if worn out.
  • Limescale Removal: Limescale that forms on the resistance due to water hardness and high temperatures should be removed regularly (every two years) by authorized service to maintain optimum performance. This procedure should be performed on the heating resistance.
  • Water Boiler Drainage: The water boiler should be drained at regular intervals to prevent accumulation of sediments and limescale.
  • Safety Valve Check: Set the safety valve latch to the upright position once a month to check if water flows out, ensuring it is not blocked.
  • Anode and Heater Check: Annually check the anode and heater in regions with higher water hardness.

Cleaning Agents:

  • Use hot water, ammoniac, and non-alcohol containing liquid detergents.
  • Do not use chemicals such as gasoline, thinner, or powder detergents, as they may damage the surface.

Storage:

  • If the appliance will not be used for a long time, disconnect the power supply from the fuse and switch off water valves.
  • The reservoir should not stay water-free for a long time to prevent corrosion.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues like the water heater not operating, not heating, heating slowly, noisy operation, excessive heating, or water dripping from the safety valve. It also lists digital error messages (E1 for Thermistor Error, E2 for Low Voltage Warning, E3 for Dry Operation) and their solutions, recommending contacting authorized service for most issues.
