Do you have a question about the Assa Abloy Lockwood Standalone and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Lockwood Standalone system is an electronic access control solution designed to manage a single door opening. It leverages ASSA ABLOY's Hi-O™ Technology, a standard communication platform for electronic door components based on the CANopen standard. This system is specifically designed for standalone operation, meaning it cannot connect multiple controllers to a single system.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Lockwood Standalone system is to provide secure access control for a single door. It allows for the creation, modification, and management of user access, including defining specific access times and days. The system also includes features for monitoring door status, detecting forced entries, and managing audit trails.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Technology: Hi-O™ Technology (Highly Intelligent Opening), based on CANopen standard.
  • Controller Type: Standalone, single-door controller.
  • Power Supply: Requires a DC Power Supply ranging from 11Vdc to 16Vdc.
  • Connectivity: USB for PC connection.
  • User Capacity: Supports a maximum of 200 users per controller.
  • Software Compatibility: Requires a PC with Windows XP or later operating system.
  • Card Reader Compatibility: Compatible with Hi-O products, including Mifare PROX 125kHz and other card technologies supported by the authorized dealer.
  • Door Open Time: Adjustable from 2 seconds to 15 seconds (default is 5 seconds).
  • Door Open Alarm: Adjustable from 30 seconds to 30 minutes, with an "OFF" setting as default.
  • Password: Controller password accepts 0-9 digit numeric passwords only, with a maximum of 9 digits.

Usage Features:

The system is managed through a dedicated software application, "Lockwood Stand Alone Access control," which offers a user-friendly interface for various operations:

  • New Installation:

    • Site and Location Setup: Users can define a site name and location for the installation.
    • User Information Management:
      • Add User: Create new user profiles by entering a name and enrolling a card ID.
      • Edit User: Modify existing user details.
      • Delete User: Remove user profiles from the system.
      • Access Time Window: Set specific start and end times for user access (only one time zone can be entered, not different times for different days).
      • Access Days: Select specific days of the week for user access.
      • Enroll Card: This feature allows for the enrollment of card IDs. After clicking "Enroll Card," the user has 5 seconds to present the card to the reader. The card ID will then be stored in the HID card. It's important to note that the enrolled card ID number will not be stored in the HID card itself.
    • Door Settings:
      • Lock Open Time: Configure the duration (2-15 seconds) the lock remains open after a valid card presentation.
      • Door Open Alarm: Set an alarm to trigger if the door remains open for a specified period (30 seconds to 30 minutes). The default is "OFF."
    • Alarm (Open by Force): Enable or disable an alarm for forced entry. If enabled, a push button or reader must be installed on the inside of the door to prevent false alarms when exiting.
    • Unlock Button: Enable or disable the use of a generic push button for internal door opening. When enabled, "Internal Button, Door Open" events are logged in the Audit trail.
    • Set Time & Date: Adjust the system's date and time, including daylight saving settings. Daylight savings must be updated annually.
    • Change Controller Password: Modify the controller's password, which must be a 0-9 digit numeric password (max 9 digits).
  • Open Existing Installation: Load previously saved installation files (.csv format) to modify or verify existing user details.

  • Connect to Controller: Directly connect to the Gateway hub to read stored data. This requires entering the controller password. If the password is forgotten, a "Forget Password?" option allows resetting it by entering the controller's serial number. This action will erase all data and settings except the date and time.

  • About Window: Displays software revision number and provides a link for future software updates.

  • Exit Application: Close the software application.

Maintenance Features:

  • Export Audit: Export user information and log events in a .csv file format for record-keeping and analysis.
  • Master Reset: This function allows for clearing all data and settings from the controller, except for the date, time, and controller password. A confirmation prompt asks the user if they wish to proceed with the reset.
  • Software Updates: The "About" section provides a link to the manufacturer's website for software updates.

Connections:

The system involves several connections:

  • Power Connection: 12-16Vdc power supply.
  • USB Connection: For connecting the controller to a PC.
  • Push Button Connection: For an external push button (if enabled).
  • Hi-O Product Connections: For connecting compatible electronic door components like readers and strikes.

Troubleshooting (Help Section highlights):

  • No lock components working: Check all plugs, power supply, positive/negative terminals, and wire plugs.
  • Unable to connect to controller: Check USB cable connection, USB hub type, and ensure the controller is properly connected to the host PC. Restarting the PC and controller may resolve the issue.
  • Unable to add user: Ensure a compatible RFID card is used and that the maximum user limit (200) has not been reached.
  • Unable to edit user: Select the user first before clicking "Edit User."
  • Password lost or forgotten: Use the "Forget Password?" option and enter the controller serial number. This will erase all controller information except date and time.
  • Lock does not unlock if the unlock button is pressed: Ensure the button is a "normally open contact" and connected between "Ext Input" and "0V." Also, ensure the REX button is enabled in the software.
  • Unable to install software: Requires Windows XP or later. MAC is not supported.
  • Unable to set time: Click the cursor in the Time box and wait several seconds for the time to appear.
