Preface
To ensure proper care operation, many years accurate measurement, the Standard Operating
Procedure (SOP) document for the automatic digital refractometer,RX-7000α, is provided
herewith. The following instructions should be used as an example. Based on the steps
provided, write up your company’s own original SOP for the operation of the automatic

The standard operation procedure document for the automatic
digital refractometer, RX-7000α
1. Operation Manual
Plug the AC power supply cable into an AC100 to 240V power outlet. If the optional
digital printer for the RX-7000α is connected, turn on the power supply switch of the
printer first, and then, turn on the power supply switch of the RX-7000α.
1) After checking the initial screen (opening message) and also checking the present
temperature in the measurement display screen, perform zero adjustment with
distilled water.
2) Drop 0.1ml or more distilled water onto the prism surface and close the cover lid,
then, press the SW1 (ZERO) key. Screen displays WAITING…”. After the current
temperature(PRESENT) reaches the targeted temperature (TARGET), the screen
displays READING…”. After a few seconds, screen displays ZERO SET END.
Confirm the display of "ZERO SET END".
Wipe off the distilled water from the prism surface with tissue paper.
3) Drop 0.1ml or more of sample onto the prism surface and close the cover lid, then,
press the START key. Screen displays WAITING…”. After the current temperature
(PRESENT) reaches the targeted temperature (TARGET), the screen displays
READING…”. After a few seconds, the measured value will be indicated.
4) Record the measured value. If the printer is connected, it will print the
measurements taken. Wipe off the sample from the prism surface with tissue paper.
5) Measure the next sample.
6) After measurement is completed, wipe off the sample from the prism surface and the
surrounding area with soft tissue paper soaked in water and then wipe dry.
7) Turn off the power supply switch of the RX-7000α. If the printer is connected, turn off
the power supply switch of the printer.
*Keep the "instruction manual" of the RX-7000α in a convenient place for easy reference.

Summary

Preface

Operation Manual

Zero Adjustment with Distilled Water

Check initial screen, present temperature, and perform zero adjustment with distilled water.

Performing Zero Adjustment

Apply distilled water, close lid, press ZERO, wait for target temperature, confirm 'ZERO SET END'.

Sample Measurement

Apply sample, close lid, press START, wait for target temperature, and read the indicated value.

Recording Measurement Data

Record the measured value. If printer is connected, it will print automatically.

Measuring Subsequent Samples

Wipe the prism surface after each measurement before measuring the next sample.

Post-Measurement Cleaning

Wipe sample from prism surface and surrounding area with wet tissue, then dry tissue.

Powering Down the Unit

Turn off the refractometer's power switch, followed by the printer's if connected.

Daily Check

Performing Daily Zero Adjustment

Turn on unit, check initial screen/temp, perform zero adjustment with distilled water for daily check.

Periodical Inspection

Inspection by Brix (standard sucrose solution)

Inspect monthly using 10.00%, 30.00%, 50.00% sucrose solutions at room temperature.

Inspection by nD (refractive index)

Measure distilled water at 10-70°C, zero adjust at each temp, and confirm refractive index values.

Calibration

Annual Calibration Procedure

Perform calibration once a year following the performance test method of operational qualification.

Operational Qualification (OQ) for Calibration

Conduct calibration according to OQ, ensuring difficult conditions are met for accuracy.

Calibration Data Recording and Approval

Record calibration data, obtain operator/approver signatures; manufacturer calibration is an option.

Maintenance

Post-Measurement Cleaning and Drying

Wipe prism surface with wet tissue, then dry thoroughly after each measurement.

Cleaning the Instrument Body

Wipe the instrument body with dry tissue or cloth if it becomes dirty.

Printer Consumable Item

The thermo-sensitive roll paper for the digital printer is a consumable item.

Storage and Environmental Conditions

Store at designated location, maintaining relative humidity below 75% for long periods.

In the event of a malfunction (failure)

Check Procedure

Troubleshoot by power cycling, checking initial screen/temp, zero adjustment, and known solution measurement.

Proper care

Address operational malfunctions by correcting user errors or mechanical issues.

Establishment and record of revision

Establishment

Record revised or changed contents and sign approval column for the standard operation procedure document.
