Other equipment that is cur rently affecting
fuel consumption is listed in the efficiency
program. The display shows up to three other
items of equipment @ . The equipment using
the most fuel is listed first. If more than three
items using fue l are switched on, the equ ip-
ment that is currently using the most f uel is
displayed .
A scale @ also shows the current total con-
sumpt ion of all other equ ipment .
Fuel economy messages

Fue l economy messages are disp layed when
fuel consumption is increased by certain con -
ditions. If you follow these fuel economy mes-
sages, you can reduce your vehicle's consump-
tion of fuel. The messages appear automati-
cally and are only disp layed in the eff iciency
prog ram. The fuel economy messages turn off
au t om atically after a certa in pe riod of time.

To turn a n economy message off immediate-
ly after it appears, press any button o n the
mult ifunct ion steer ing whee l.
@ Tips
- Once you have t urne d a fuel economy
message off, it will only appear again af-
te r you tur n t he ignition o n aga in.
- The fuel economy messages are not dis-
played in
eve ry insta nce, but rat her in in-
t e rvals ove r a period of t ime .
Cylinder on demand System
Applies to veh icles: with 4.0 TFSI engine

To save fuel, the engine automatically turns
fo ur cylinders on or off, depend ing on the
amount of power needed . This act ion is not
felt by the passengers .

Turn the thumbwheel unti l the current fuel
cons umption display is shown in the instru -
ment cluste r. If the green bar is displayed,
you are driving in 4-cy linder mode.
Basic requir ements for 4 -cylinder mode
4-cylinder drive mode is used a utomat ically if
certain basic requirements a re f ulfille d. These
include :
- A low power out put requi rement.
- Driving in t hird gear or hig her.
- Engine speed between 960 and 3,500 RPM.
- A warm eng ine.
