Ch e ck ing and Filling
- If you have the impression your engine con-
sumes excessive amounts of oil, we recom-
mend that you consu lt your Audi dealer to
have the cause of your concern properly di-
agnosed . Keep in mind that the accurate
measurement of oil consumption requires
great care and may take some time . Your
Audi dealer has inst ructions about how to
measure oil consump tion accurate ly.
Checking the engine oil level and adding
engine oil
The engine oil level can be checked in the Info-
tainment system

Observe the safety precaut ions ¢ &. in Working

Checking the engine oil level
.,. Park the vehicle on a level surface .
.,. Shut the engine off when it is warm . Wait ap-
proximately two minutes so tha t the engine oil
can flow back into t he oil pan .
.,. Switch only the ignition back on.
.,. Select: the
ICARI function button > (Car) * Sys-
tems
control button > Service & checks > Oil
level.
.,. Read the oil level in t he Infota inment system.
Add engine oil if the bar in the oil level indica-
tor is just before "min".
Adding engin e oil
.,. Turn the eng ine off .
.,. Unscrew the engine oil filler opening cap~
¢ fig.185, ¢page 202, fig.184 .
.,. Carefully add 0 .5 quart (0.5 liter) of the correct
oil ¢ page 202 .

.,. Close the eng ine oil filler opening cap~ -
.,. Close the hood, restart the ignition after two
minutes and read t he current oil level in the In-
fotainment system.
A WARNING
- When adding oil, do not let oil drip onto hot
engine components . This increases the risk
of afire.
- You must sea l the cap on the oil filler open-
ing correct ly so that oil does not leak out
onto the hot engine and exhaust system
when t he engine is running, because this is
a fire hazard.
- Always clean skin thoroughly if it comes into
contact with eng ine oil.

- The engine oil level must not be under the
"min" marking, because this increases the
risk of engine damage.
- If the message
Oil level is too full. Please
reduce oil level.

oil in t he engine and there is a risk of cata -
lytic converter and engine damage . Do not
sta rt the eng ine. Cont act an aut horized Audi
dealer or authorized Audi Service Facility to
have excess engine oil extracted if necessa-
ry.
- Do not mix any addit iona l lubricants into
the engine oil. Damage caused by such add i-
t ives is not covered by the warranty .
@ For the sake of the environment
- Oil sho uld never enter the sewer system or
come into contact with the ground .
- Pay attention to lega l req uiremen ts when
disposing of empty oil containers .
(D Tips
- The oil level indicator in the inst rument
cluster display is only an informationa l dis-
play. If the oil level is too low, a minimum
oil warn ing appears in the instrument clus-
ter . Add oil and close the hood. The current
oil level is displayed in the Infotainment
