Emergency situations
If you must lift your vehicle with a floor jack to
work underneath , be sure the vehicle is safely
supported on stands intended for this purpose.
Front lifting point

could cause the veh icle to tilt or fall fr om
a lift if t here is a change in vehicle weight
dist ribution and balance . This m ig ht hap-
pen , fo r exampl e, wh e n heavy compo-
nents such as the eng ine block or trans-
mission a re removed.
- W he n remov ing heavy componen t s like
t hese, anchor veh icle to hoist or add corre-
spondin g weig ht s to maintai n the center of
gravity. Oth e rwise, the vehicle mig ht ti lt or
slip
off t he hoist , causing se rious pe rsonal
injury.

- Be aware of th e following points bef ore lift-
ing th e vehicle:
- The vehicle should never be lifted or
jacked up from underneath the engine oil
pan, the transmission housing, the front
or rear axle or the body side members .
This could lead to serious damage .
- To avoid damage to the underbody or
chassis frame, a rubber pad must be
