Occupant safety
Passive safety
A new airbagcontrol unit J234 was developed for occupant protec-
tion in the AudiQ7 (type4M). It contains a sensor which measures
rotation about the Z axis. In addition, the airbagcontrol unit J234
now communicates via the FlexRay bus with other control units
such as the ABS control unit J104. The ABScontrol unit J104 thus
receives in real time data on rotation about the Z axis which is
utilised by the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system.
Depending on country and trim level, pyrotechnic seat belt ten-
sioners can be installed in the 3rd seat row of the AudiQ7 as an
option.
Active safety
Depending on country, 4Audipresensefunctions are optional for
the AudiQ7. In additional to Audi pre sense basic, these are:
• presenserear
• presensefront
• presensecity
Audi pre sense city is able to warn the driver about vehicles and
pedestrians and brake within system limitations. Audipre sense
front brings to the Audi Q7 new functions such as evasion assist
and turn assist.
