Pre sense rear

1)
Not available in all countries.
2)
Optional equipment.
3)
A precondition is that the following vehicles are within the detection range of the radar sensors.
With Audipresenserear, the following actions can be initiated:
• RECAS warning (Rear End Collision Avoidance System)
1)
.
• Inflation of the side bolsters in the seats and seat backs
2)
.
• Closing the panoramic glass sunroof
2)
.
• Closing of the side windows
• Speed-dependent partial or full tensioning of the electrically
reversible seat belt tensioners.
Audipresensebasic is always fitted in combination with
Audipresenserear. Audipresenserear is only possible if the
vehicle has Audisideassist. Audisideassist 2"mid-range" radar
sensors which are able to detect objects within a range of approxi-
mately 0–70 m behind the vehicle.
A vehicle with Audipresenserear is equipped with Audi side assist
control unit J769 and Audi side assist control unit 2 J770. The Audi
side assist control unit 2 J770 is connected to the Audi side assist
control unit J769 (master control unit) via a sub-bus system. In
addition, it is connected to the Extended CAN bus. Each control
unit is combined with a radar sensor to form a unit.
Function
The radar sensors continuously monitor the trac following the
vehicle whenever Audi side assist is inactive. Control units J769 and
J770 evaluate and condition the signals they receive and thereby
determine the distance to following vehicles within their detection
range.
Based on the information supplied by the ABS control unit J104,
the vehicle knows its own speed. The Audi side assist control unit 2
J770 and the Audi side assist control unit J769 compute the speeds
of the following vehicles based on this information. The following
information is therefore available to Audipresenserear
3)
:
• Distance to following vehicles.
• Speed of following vehicles.
• Speed of own vehicle.
If an Audi side assist control unit detects a critical pre sense rear
situation, the Audi side assist control unit J769 sends various items
of information to the data bus diagnostic interface J533 (gateway).
A critical situation is defined as a situation in which a following
vehicle would collide with the rear end of one's own vehicle unless
further action is taken by the driver of the following vehicle.
The data bus diagnostic interface J533 forwards these signals to
the airbag control unit J234. This control unit decides on the basis
of available information which actuators to activate and distributes
this information to dierent control units, such as the sliding
sunroof control unit J245
