The Audiovox D1788 is a portable entertainment system featuring a 7-inch LCD monitor and an integrated DVD player with a built-in battery. This versatile unit is designed for use in various settings, including hotels, offices, homes, or vehicles, offering a compact and easy-to-install solution for on-the-go entertainment.
The primary function of the D1788 is to play DVDs, CDs, and MP3 discs, displaying video content on its 7-inch (16:9 Aspect Ratio) Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) monitor. It supports NTSC signal systems for video output and provides audio output with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The unit is equipped with a semiconductor laser for disc reading.
The D1788 offers flexible powering options. For indoor use, it can be powered by plugging one end of the supplied AC to DC adapter into the DC 9-12V jack on the unit and the other end into a 100-240V AC power receptacle. For in-car use, a DC power adapter can be plugged into the unit's DC jack and then into the vehicle's DC power socket.
The device includes a long-life Li-Polymer battery for portability. Before the first use, the battery requires a minimum of 8 hours of charging. Subsequent full recharges take approximately five hours and provide power for about 2 hours of playback. The battery charges when the AC to DC adapter is connected and the player is in "Power Off" mode; a red LED indicator will turn off once fully charged. The Li-Polymer battery technology ensures high storage capacity and low degradation, meaning it doesn't suffer from "Memory Effect" and can be recharged regardless of its current charge level.
The D1788 features a user-friendly interface with various buttons and jacks.
A remote control with a CR2025 battery is included, offering comprehensive control over the device's functions, including:
To play a disc, connect power, turn on the DVD player, press the OPEN button to open the disc tray, place the disc label-side up, and close the tray by pressing "PRESS." The unit will load and begin playing automatically. Volume can be adjusted with the VOLUME control. To stop playback, press STOP. To turn off the player, slide the POWER ON/OFF switch to OFF.
Pressing 'SETUP' displays the main setup menu. Pressing 'SETUP' again exits the menu and resumes playback.
When an audio CD is inserted, a menu screen appears, allowing users to select songs using the Up and DOWN buttons and press ENTER to play.
For MP3 discs, the menu screen automatically appears. Users can navigate folders and songs using the directional buttons and ENTER. The system plays songs in the order they were burned onto the disc. Icons indicate whether an item is a folder or an MP3 file. Repeat options include "Repeat one" (track), "Repeat Folder" (disc), and "Repeat Off."
When a JPEG disc is loaded, the player displays folders and their contents. The MENU button returns to the Photo Menu. Pictures can be selected using UP/DOWN buttons and ENTER. The DOWN button rotates the picture 90 degrees clockwise. During JPEG viewing, certain functions like DISPLAY, AUDIO, ZOOM, SUB, and ANGLE may not be available, indicated by an icon.
When cleaning the unit, ensure it is unplugged from the power source. Use a cloth lightly dampened with water to clean the exterior. Avoid liquid or aerosol cleaners.
Do not attempt to disassemble the cabinet due to the risk of electric shock and laser radiation exposure. Contact qualified service personnel for repairs.
