Aboutvariablebitrate
Variablebitrate(VBR)adjuststhebitrateaccordingtotheimagecomplexity.Whentheactivityinthesceneincreases,VBRadjusts
thebitrateaccordingtothecomplexity,usingupmorebandwidthforincreasedactivityinthescene,andlessforlowersceneactivity.
Variablebitrateissuitableifthereisasurplusinbandwidth,wheretheincreasedbitratemaynotbeanissue.
Aboutconstantbitrate
Ifbandwidthislimited,werecommendtocontrolthebitratebyselectingConstantbitrate(CBR).CBRallowsyoutosetatarget
bitratethatlimitsthebandwidthconsumption.TheCBRtargetbitrateworksliketheceilingofatent.Itlimitsthebitrate,while
maintainingsomeexibility.Thebitratemaybounceupanddownwithinthesettargetbutwhenitnearsthesettargetvalue,the
limitationkicksin.However,becauseCBRwillalwaysprioritizeacontinuousvideostream,itallowstemporaryovershootsfromthe
targetbitrate.Topartlycompensateforthenegativeeffectonframerateandimagequality,selectwhichvariabletobeprioritized.
