What to do if the Axis Cables and connectors port indicator is not lit and the device does not operate?

      Natalie SmithAug 12, 2025
If an Axis Cables and connectors port indicator isn't lit and the device isn't working, first check if the Midspan detects a device. Then, ensure the device is designed for PoE operation. Verify you're using a standard Category 5/5e/6 straight-wired cable with four pairs. If you're using an external power splitter, try replacing it. Make sure the input Ethernet cable is connected to the DATA IN port, and the device is connected to the DATA PWR OUT port. Try connecting the device to a different Midspan to identify a faulty port or RJ-45 connection. Finally, check for shorts in the twisted pair cables or RJ-45 connectors.

If the Axis Cables and connectors end device operates but there's no data link, first, make sure the port indicator on the front panel is continuously lit. If you're using an external power splitter, replace it with a known-good one. Verify that you're using standard UTP/FTP Category 5 straight cabling with all four pairs for this link. Ensure the Ethernet cable is less than 100 meters long. Try reconnecting the device to a different Midspan to see if there's a faulty port or RJ-45 connection.
