1. Safety
To prevent personal injury
Isolated electrically before re-lamp ing. Caution : hot lamp (house).
Caution: High pressure lam p may explode if improperly handled. R efer servicing to qualied service personnel. The customer
should never attempt to disassemble the lamp casing or to dispo se of the lamp c asing other than by returning it to Barco.
To r educe the lamp heat of the projector, s witch the projector rst to standby and let the projector lamp cool d own for a t least 5
minutes. Then the projector may be sw itched off with the power switch.
To p revent injury a nd physical dam age, always read this man ual and all labels on the system before inserting the lam p casing,
connecting t o the wall outlet or adjusting the projector.
To prevent injury, take note of the weight of the projector. Minimum 4 p ersons are nee ded to carry the FLM.
To prevent injury, ens ure that the lens and all cover plates are correctly installed. See installation procedures.
Warning: high intensity light beam. NEV ER look into the lens ! H igh lum inance c ould result in injury t o the ey e.
Before attempting to remove any of the projector’s cove rs, you must disconnect from the wall outlet.
When performing se tup work to a ceiling m ounted projector, to prevent injury caused by falling objects or the system, set out
a keep out area.
Consult a professional structural engineer prior to suspending the projector from a structure n ot intended for that use. Always
ensure that the working load limit of the structure can handle the load of the projector.
Never stack more than two (2) FLM projectors in a hanging conguration ( truss) and never s tack more than three (3) FLM
projectors in a base stand conguration (table mount).
The power input at the projector side is considered as the disconnect device. When required to sw itch off the device, to access
parts inside, always disconnect the power cord a t the base o f the device. In case the power input at the bas e of the dev ice is
not accessible (e.g. ceiling mou nt), the socket outlet supplying the device shall be installed nearby the device and be ea sily
accessible, or a readily ac cessible general disconnect device shall be incorporated in the xed wiring.
Do not place this equipmen t on an unstable c art, stand, or table. The product m ay fall, causing serious damage to it and
possible injury to the user.
When mounting the devic e to the ceiling or to a rigging system, always mount s ecurity chains.
It is hazardous to operate without lens or shield. Shields, lens es or utra-vilolet screens shall be c hanged if they have become
visible dam aged to such an extent that their effectiveness is imp aired. For example by cracks or deep sc ratches.
Warning: Protection from ultraviolet radiation: Do not look directly in the light beam. The lamp contained in this p roduct is
an intense source of light and heat. One component of the light emitted from this lamp is ultraviolet light. Potential eye and skin
hazards are present when the lamp is energized due to ultraviolet radiation. Avoid unnecessary exposure. Protect yourself and
your employees by making them aware of the hazards and how to protect themselves. P rotecting the skin can be ac com plished
by w earing tightly woven garments and gloves. Protecting the eyes from UV ca n be ac comp lished by wearing safety glasses
that are designed to provide UV pr otection. In addition to the UV, the visible light from the lamp is intense and should also be
considered when choosing pr otective eye wear.
Exposure to UV radiation: Some m edications are known to m ake individuals e xtra sensitive to U V radiation. The Amer ican
Conference of Governm ental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) re comm ends occupational UV exposure for an-8hour day to be
less than 0.1 m icrowatts per square centimeters of effective UV radiation. An e valuation of the workplace is advised to assure
employees are not exposed to cumulative radiation levels exceeding these government guidelines.
Cooling liquid circuit. The device head contains a cooling circuit lled with Blue antifreeze diluted (1/3 ethanediol 2/3 Dem i
wate r).
When the cooling circuit leaks, switch off the device and c
ontact a s ervice technician.
The liquid is not for household use. Keep out of reach of children. Harmful by oral intake. Avoid exposure to pregnant w omen.
Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Avoid inhale of the noxious fumes .
To prevent device damage
The FLM has been des igned for use with a specic lamp (house) type. See installation instructions for its correct type.
If t he air lters are not regularly replaced, the air ow inside the projector could be disrupted, causing overheating. O verheating
may lead to the projector shutting down during operation.
In o rder to ensure t hat correct air ow is m aintained, and that the device complies with electromagnetic com patibility (EMC )
requirements, and for safety requ irements, it shou ld always be operated with all of it’s covers in place.
Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation. To ensure reliable operation of the product and to protect it from
overheating, these openings must not be blocked or covered. The openings should never be blocked by plac ing the product
on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface. This p roduct should nev er be placed near or over a radiator or heat register. T he
device should not be placed in a built-in installation or enclosure unless proper v entilation is pr ovided.
Do not block the projector cooling fans or free air movement under and around the projector. Loose papers or other objects
may not be nearer to the projector than 10 cm (4") on any side.
The devic e must always be mounted in a manner which ensures free ow of air into its air inlets and unimpeded evacuation of
the hot air exhausted from its c ooling system. Heat sens itive materials should not be placed in the path of the exhausted air.
Leave at least a free safety area of 1 meter (40”) at the rear of the pr ojector.
Ensure that nothing can be spilled on, or drop
ped inside the projector. If this d oes happen, switch off and unplug the mains
supply immediately. Do not operate the projector again until it h as been checked by qualied service technicians.
Consult a professional structural engineer when you have the intention to use this projector as ceiling mounted pr ojector. Always
ensure the working load limit of the structure supporting the projector.
Do not use this equipment near water.
