REMEDY
PROBLEM CAUSE
Engine cranks but will not start or
starts hard.
Fuel tank empty.
Water in fuel or water frozen in
fuel lines. Water frozen in fuel
lter.
Debris or dirt in fuel.
Airlterelementrestrictedwith
dirt, snow, or water.
Check fuel level. Fill as
necessary.
Thaw and /or drain water from
fuel tank. Thaw ice in fuel lines
anddrain.Installnewfuellter.
Drainandushfuelsystem.
Changefuellter.
Cleanorreplacelterelements.
Clean air intake pipe screen.
Low engine oil pressure.
Low engine oil level.
Low viscosity - (using too light of
oil in summer.)
Check engine oil level. Fill to
correct level. Check for and
repair, any leaks.
Drainengineoilandllwith
heavier weight engine oil.
Engine overheats.
Low coolant level.
Loose, worn, or broken fan belt.
Radiator plugged.
Airlterelementsplugged.
Fill to correct level and check for
leaks.
Tighten or replace belt.
Clean and inspect radiator.
Clean or replace elements.
Engine will not start.
Low or discharged battery.
Recharge battery.
