Decrease engine RPM to idle. Allow the
engine to idle 3 to 5 minutes before shutting
the engine off after a full-load operation. This
allows adequate cool down of pistons,
cylinders, bearings, and turbocharger, if
equipped.

The Emergency Stop Button is standard on BARKO
240, 260 and 270 models. It is optional on other BARKO
models. Check your Options if your machine is equipped
with an Emergency Stop Button.
The following procedure explains how to safely and
properly shut down your BARKO machine.
1 STOPPING & PARKING THE MACHINE
Place boom and attachment down to a
secure position on ground.
Bring machine to a stop. Apply all braking
mechanisms, both travel and swing.
2.
1.
When machine is not operating or when
leaving cab, boom and attachment must
be lowered to ground. Failure to do so may
allow boom and attachment to move, causing
injury, death or property damage.
WAIT A MINIMUM OF A 180 SECONDS

SWITCH BEFORE TURNING OFF THE
MASTER DISCONNECT SWITCH
TURN OFF the Master Disconnect Switch.
See for the location of the Chapter 40 Cab
Control Power Switch.
DISENGAGE Servo Controls and/or
Attachment Arming Switch. See Chapter
40 Cab for the switch(s) or lever(s) that
activates or deactivates these fuctions.
TURN OFF the Ignition Switch. This will
shut off the engine and some electrical
components. A key left in ON or ACC position
will drain battery even if engine is off. See
Fig-1.
This is to allow the DEF system to return all
DEF fluid to the DEF tank and for the engine
ECM to properly shut down.
See Cummins manual for more
