4.4.3 HV OFF
Set pulse selection switch at SSG to „0
Turn regulating transformer to left limit stop
Release single pulse, to discharge surge capacitors
Switch off SSG with OFF button.
o “High voltage on” button – light off
o Red lamp - light off
o Green lamp - light
o Then the discharging unit for discharging of high voltage cable is automatically
activated (via resistor)
o Follow discharging at kV meter at SSG
o After approx. 3 seconds, the release of the earth pin ball is clearly audible.
With this drop a direct earthing of high voltage cable is produced.
Set pull switches 4 and 5 to position SSG (pressed in)
Nevertheless, for safety purpose the high voltage connection should be discharged,
short cut and earthed before touching.
The Surge Voltage Generators SSG 1100, SSG 1500 and SSG 2100 features an internal
discharge unit with separated discharge of surge capacitors and test object capacity,
but not an internal earthing unit. Before cancelling the safety precautions, it is
essential that all live parts are discharged, earthed and shorted once more externally,
because they could have residual charges, caused by possible interruptions. Pay
attention that during discharge, different and rather high discharge time constants can
occur, depending on the connected test object capacity and the selected discharge
rod.
(Preferably by using the BAUR Discharge / Earthing Rod)
