6 Cable fault pre-location methods

When using surge mode:
Cordon off syscompact at a distance of 1.5 m
Persons must stand only outside the barrier
All measurements are started by pressing knob of IRG 2000 for two seconds.
For more detailed help of using IRG 2000 please have a look to IRG 2000 user manual and
the instructions displayed in the status bar.
6.1 Pre-location with TDR (Time Domain Reflection)
For TDR measurement put the banana plugs into the sockets (6). Put in high voltage plug
into LV socket (8)
Without any couplings the IRG 2000 is used as a Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR). This
method allows the indication of short cuts, interruptions as well as the indication of cable
ends.
The device is switched to TDR. For automatic measurement set range and gain to AUTO.
Measurement is started by pressing knob for 2 seconds.
