8.1 Frequency of Consumable Changes
For proper operation and a long life of the water softener equipment, it is recommended to
follow the following guidelines for changing consumables:
The existing resin inside the resin tank should be replaced no more than every 5 - 10
years of the life of the equipment depending on the quality of the supply water.
The salt for the regeneration of the resin must be replaced as needed by consumption, so
that the equipment is never without salt in the tank.
8.2 Sanitization
For proper operation and a long life of the resins of the softener equipment, it is advisable
to carry out periodic sanitization, following the following guidelines:
Saniti’Soft (sachets): This product performs an alkaline cleaning of the resin.
It should be supplied 1 time a month, pouring the contents of the sachet into the chimney
of the salt tank.
With these cleaning and disinfection actions of the resins, it will be possible to extend their
life, so that the frequency of change corresponds to the years mentioned in point 8.1.
8.3 Extended shutdowns
If the water softener is going to be out of operation for a long time, it is recommended to
follow the following actions in order to preserve the equipment and its proper functioning:
When you need to take the equipment out of service:
- Unplug the equipment from the electrical outlet.
- Cut o the water supply to the equipment, activating the external by-pass that is
recommended to be mounted on the installation.
When you need to put the equipment back into operation after an extended period of
downtime:
- Turn on the water supply to the equipment again by activating the external bypass.
- Plug the computer back into the electrical outlet. - As soon as the valve starts again,
you must reprogram the valve clock to the current time (according to manual, point 8.3).
- Once the equipment is in service, let the water run for a few minutes before use.
