3. Pour water into the water tank. Make sure that you fi ll it at least up to the MIN marking and
no higher than the MAX marking.
4. Insert the water tank into the device by sliding it into the device from above. Make sure that
the locking lugs of the water tank sit in the recesses which are provided for them on the
device.
5. Close the water tank lid.
Inserting / Removing the Sieve Insert
1. Insert the sieve insert you want (b / c / d) into the corresponding portafi lter (a / e). When
you insert it, make sure that the small locking lug on the sieve insert fi ts in the recess on the
portafi lter. Otherwise the sieve insert cannot be inserted (Picture A).
2. To remove the sieve insert from the portafi lter, turn the locking lug on the sieve insert to-
wards the recess on the portafi lter. Then pull the sieve insert out upwards.
Filling Sieve Inserts for Powder and Pads
1. Fill the sieve insert after inserting it in the corresponding portafi lter (e) (see “Inserting /
Removing the Sieve Insert”), depending on the sieve insert with the aid of the measuring
spoon(7), with espresso / coffee powder or with coffee pads (Senseo™ type, E. S. E type).
With espresso / coffee powder, make sure that the sieve insert is not overfi lled (note the
MAX marking)!
Use the small sieve insert for individual pads (c). With E.S.E. (Easy Serving Espresso) pads,
make sure that you place them in the middle of the sieve insert.
2. Use the pressing aid (6) to press down the espresso / coffee powder in the sieve insert.
3. Remove excess espresso / coffee powder from the rim of the portafi lter or make sure that
the edge of the coffee pad does not protrude.
Filling the Sieve Insert for Capsules
Note that the sieve insert for capsules (b) must be fi lled before it is inserted in the porta-
fi lter (a).
1. Reach into the recess on the sieve insert for capsules and fl ip open the bottom part.
2. Insert the coffee capsule into the sieve insert.
3. Flip the bottom part of the sieve insert down again.
4. Insert the sieve insert into the corresponding portafi lter (see “Inserting / Removing the Sieve
Insert”).
