LIGHT ‘N EASY
FRIED BROCCOLI
2.5 - 3.0 liters vegetable oil for frying
2 stalks fresh broccoli
1 egg
1 cup light buttermilk
1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)
salt/pepper to taste

1. Preheat oil to 340º F. The blue WORKING light will illuminate
as the Deep Fryer heats the oil.
2. Trim broccoli into bite-sized flowerettes.
3. Combine hot sauce, buttermilk and egg in a shallow
bowl and mix well.
4. Dip broccoli into buttermilk mixture 2 to 3 times
to coat the tops well.
5. When blue WORKING light turns OFF, and the
Deep Fryer is ready for use.
6. Using oven mitts and heat-resistant tongs, place
battered broccoli into the fryer basket.
7. Lower fryer basket into oil and add lid.
8. Cook 2 to 3 minutes, watching the browning
process through the viewing window.
9. Using tongs, turn broccoli. Allow to cook for another
2 to 3 minutes until done.
10. Always use the fry basket to lift broccoli out of the oil;
hook the basket to the rim and allow oil to drain.
Then remove broccoli from the fry basket and
onto a plate of absorbent paper towels.
11. Add seasoned salt and pepper while warm.
VARIATION: Try this recipe with fresh green beans.
