4 • OPERATION
4.10 Starting the engine
As you turn the ignition switch to the ON position, the instruments and the warning lights will go through the self-diagnostic
cycle; during this phase, make sure that all the warning lights on the dashboard come on. One of the following conditions must be
verified, in order thatthe ignition switch system allows engine starting:
The gears are in neutral.
The gears are engaged, the clutch lever is pulled and the side stand is up.
Press the start button without turning the throttle twist grip.
As soon as the engine starts, release the button.
• Do not press the start button for longer than 5 consecutive seconds.
• Avoid warming up the engine while thevehicle is stationary. It is advisable to bring the engine to the
working temperature by riding at reduced speed.
To ensure the maximum life of the engine, never speed up at full throttle when the engine is cold.
