  Your Bissell Vacuum Cleaner might not be picking up dirt due to several reasons. The filter could be dirty and needs rinsing after which you should allow enough time for it to dry. The Main Hose might be disconnected and needs reconnecting until the latch is secure. There could be a crack or hole in the Main Hose. The Brush Roll bristles may be worn and need replacement. A clog could be present in the vacuum, or the Dirt Container might not be seated correctly; in this case, release the Dirt Container and reseat it properly.

  If dirt is escaping from your Bissell Vacuum Cleaner, first, empty the Dirt Container as it might be full. Also, check to ensure the filter is in place. If the Dirt Container is not seated properly, remove it by pressing the Empty Button, then re-insert the bottom first, pivoting towards the vacuum until you hear a 'click'.
