TO
USE
STANDARD
OSCILLOSCOPE PROBE
A standard oseilloseope
probe,
rather
than
the test
leads supplied,
is very
handy for many
measurements.
A
XtO
probe
attenuates
the
measured signal
l0:1 and
extends the voltage
measurement range. It also offers
the advan-
tages of low eapaeitanee and high resistanee
for less
eircuit loading
when making
measure-
ments in high impedanee
or
high frequeney
eireuits.
A
X1O/Direct
probe
offers all
the
advantages
of a
fixed X10
probe, plus
the
ability to switeh to unattenuated
(Direct)
operation for low
level
signal measurements.
The
Model 1403A
and 1405
Oseilloseopes
ean
be
easily adapted to use a fixed X10
or
X10/Direet
oseilloseope
probe.
Standard
oseilloseope
probes
use a BNC eonneetor.
A
Pomona No. 1269 BNC-to-Dual Banana
Adapt-
er is all
that is
needed
to eonvert
this
seope
for use of
a standard
probe.
B &
K-Preeision offers
a variety
of oseillo-
seope
probes.
The
Model
PR-47
(fixed
X10) or
PR-40
(Xl0/Direet)
is reeommended
for
use
with the
Model 1403A or
1405
Oseilloseope.
All
X10
and
X10/Direet
probes
should
have
a
probe
eompensation
trimmer, whieh
should
be
adjusted
as
follows:
1.
Conneet
probe
to seope.
2. Set
Xl0-DIR
switeh
on
probe
to X10,
if
so equipped.
3.
Set V
ATT
switeh
on
seope
to
rrlrr
(1
0
m V/div).
4.
Apply I
kHz
square
wave
to
probe
tip.
Adjust
seope eontrols
for two
to four
eyeles square
wave display. Adjust
sguare wave
generator
for
four to
six
divisions amplitude.
5. Adjust for
best square wave
waveshape,
as
shown in Fig. 9 of
this manual.
