DESCRTPIION
OF EQUTPMENT
The B
&
K-Preeision
Model 1403A
and
1405
Oseilloseopes
are
eompaet,
single
traee,
general
purpose
instruments
for observing
waveforms.
These
oseilloseopes
use
a
3-ineh
round
CRT with a 12 x tZ
division
gratieule
whieh
overlays
the
CRT.
Waveforms
ean be
viewed
on about 8
x
10
divisions.
The
gratieule
also featues
a dB
seale, refereneed
to
six
divisions
amplitude
equals
0 dB.
The vertieal
ehannel has
a
bandwidth
of de
to 5 M
Hz,
and
sensitivity of 10
mV/division.
Input
impedanee
is 1 Megohm,
the standard
value
for
oseilloseopes.
A three-step
atten-
uator
offers 1:1, 10:1
and 100:1
steps,
plus
a
variable
gain
eontrol
offers fully
adjustable
waveform
amplitude.
Terminals
are
also
pro-
vided
to
allow
external
signals to be
applied
direetly to
the vertieal
defleetion
plates
of
the
CRT.
The horizontal
ehannel uses
reeurrent
type
sweep,
with four
ranges
and
a
variable
eontrol
to
span the 10
Hz to
100 kHz
band. The
sweep
ean
be synehronized
to
the
waveform being
observed
(internal
syne) with a
trigger
sensi-
tivity of
1 division.
External
syne
is also
available, with
a sensitivity of 2
volts
peak-to-
peak.
In
X-Y
operation, the
horizontal
ehannel
beeomes
a
variable
gain
X-axis
amplifier with
m aximum
sensitivity
of 300
mV
per
division.
Bandwidth is up to 250 kHz.
A Z-axis
input is
provided
for
intensity
modulation, if desired.
DIFFERENCES
BETWEEN
ITIODEI.S 1403A
AND
1405
Eleetrieally, the
Model 1403A
and
1405
are
nearly identieal.
However,
almost
all external
hardware
and meehanieal
parts
are different.
The Model 1405
beeame
a
replaeement
for the
Model
1403A
in
19?9,
and
featured
a
different
ease eolor,
and many eosmetie differenees on
the
front
panel.

This
serviee manual does not

Model
1403.
Although the Model 1403 has
a similarity
in funetion
to
Model 1403A, there
